Black Desert developer Pearl Abyss announced a completely new main quest for the MMO at the end of 2018. This revamped quest line is intended to ease the entry for new players and not become boring after multiple playthroughs.

This is what players can expect in the new main quest: The revamped story lets players start in a new location. Each hero’s journey now begins in the western watchtower. There you must first deal with goblins. But this is just the beginning of the journey for new players. Throughout the main quest, players have the choice between one of three possible paths.
In each of the three paths, the focus is on different characters. Those who want the overall picture must play the main quest with three different characters. One of the reasons for the three different story paths is the way players play the main campaign. In Black Desert, players typically level up several characters. Why was the main quest revamped? Developer Pearl Abyss has continually expanded Black Desert with new content over time. This has sometimes led to narrative problems because it was difficult to conceive an overarching story due to regular updates. The individual plots contradicted each other, which is why the developer took on the redesign.
The revamped main quest is part of a much larger project aimed at keeping the MMO up to date continuously. In addition to a new main quest, Black Desert received a complete facelift last month, which updated the graphics and the soundtrack of the game.
