I am really looking forward to the release of Diablo 4. However, for the launch to be really good, the developers should definitely add a specific class type, says our editor Patrick Freese.
When is the release of Diablo 4? The release of Blizzard’s announced ARPG Diablo 4 is likely still a bit further away. At least at this moment on September 23, there is still no specific release date. What we know so far about the release of Diablo 4.
Although the release is still somewhat far away, I am already diligently thinking about how the game will “feel” and what I expect from it.
Above all, I hope for another class at launch: a pet class that primarily summons animals or other beings to fight for me. I love that as a hunter in WoW and also as a witch doctor or necromancer in Diablo 3.
Why I want the pet class
Which classes have been confirmed so far? So far, 3 classes are certain for launch. Five are supposed to be available at the start. We already know
- The Barbarian – a melee fighter
- The Druid – a hybrid between melee and ranged fighter
- The Sorceress – a ranged fighter / caster
Which two additional classes will make it to the launch of Diablo 4 is currently unknown. Everything, we show you what we know about Barbarian, Druid and Sorceress in Diablo 4 here.
Speculations have also brought up the Paladin and the Amazon as possible classes for Diablo 4. However, in my opinion, a pet class must definitely be there at launch.
Now, it is possible to use pet skills with the Druid, but does that make him a “true” pet class? Probably not. An equivalent to a witch doctor or necromancer should be present right at the release of Diablo 4 and offer the possibility in the talent trees to fully skill on companions and have several animals at the start.
A pet class is a must!
What makes the pet class better for me? In Diablo 3, I now have nearly 1,000 hours of playtime. During that time, I have tried several classes and can say for myself: Pet classes are the most fun for me. More than melee fighters, hybrids, or ranged fighters.
I love leveling with summoners. I usually don’t take the hits myself but can send my summoned hellhounds into the fray and then shoot a swarm of insects right behind them. Awesome!
That is especially cool when you have lazy gameplay phases and would rather play “stupidly” instead of constantly having to pay attention to movement.
This is where pets are excellent. Because ideally they don’t die quickly or can be easily resurrected or resummoned.
Pet classes or summoners mainly play out in such a way that the companions take over the fighting. As a player, you can then support your creatures with skills.
This variety in the launch classes is still missing for me to ensure that the release will be really good.
If Blizzard were to bring a pure pet class directly at the launch of Diablo 4, I would be truly happy about it.
