In Titanfall 2 you show your love for animals and respect for a YouTuber in an unusual way. A story moves the community and developers so much that Respawn honors a dead dog in the game.
Just over a week ago, a post circulated in the Titanfall 2 community. Someone posted a photo of a dog with the message: “This morning I said goodbye to my best friend of the last 18 years. Onyx, I love you so much. This hurts. Rest in peace, my friend.”

Youtuber Inquity bids farewell to his friend, who enjoys high esteem within the relatively small Titanfall 2 community.
And so the post on reddit received over 1000 upvotes. Not only the community, but also employees of Respawn expressed their condolences under the photo of the dog.
The thread creator called on the developers at Respawn to bring the dog into the game in a patch. This was received mixed by the fans. Some were for it. Others said it went too far. It had nothing to do with the game. Such is the nature of the internet.
Developers touched by the dog’s death
But yesterday Respawn also spoke out on reddit and said: “We were touched and saddened to hear about Onyx’s passing. Many of us are also dog parents and we can empathize with the pain it caused. We recognize what Inquity has done for the Titanfall 2 community and we are very grateful.“

It has been fantastic how the community supported the wish. This support was so strong that it encouraged Respawn employees to create a banner in honor of the dog.
A post about the banner made its way into other gaming forums on reddit. The post currently has over 21,000 upvotes on reddit-gaming, where mostly funny gaming videos run. That’s quite a lot.
Mein MMO says: The Titanfall 2 community seems to be something special. Small, but heartfelt. Even if the desire to honor the dog may have been debated within the community itself. The gesture outward is nice and the best advertising for the shooter, which probably deserves more players.
