Our readers have written a detailed class guide on the Titans in Titanfall 2. All your questions will be answered here.
We will dedicate ourselves to each individual Titan, give tips for the selectable upgrades (kits), explain how to get the most out of these massive metal companions, and how to react to other Titans.
Hello, dear pilots community! We, KingK, dh, Fly, and groovy666, would like to present you a guide on the titular Titans in Titanfall 2, enriched with personal experiences and recommendations.
How do I get my Titan?
You earn your Titan through various actions during a match, which can vary depending on the chosen game mode. Exceptions are Pilot vs. Pilot (where there are no Titans) and Last Titan Standing (you already have your Titan from the start).
These actions include kills/assists from pilots/AI, damaging or eliminating enemy Titans, or capturing or reinforcing hardpoints. Once you have earned 100% of your Titanfall, you can call it in using the down button on the d-pad. All commands in the guide are for Titanfall 2 on the PS4.
What Titan models are there?
1. Stryder Model: This includes the sword-swinging Ronin and the sniper Titan Northstar. These Titan models are lightly armored but much faster than other models and come standard with two dashes (Dash) to quickly flee from the enemy or to close the distance. A clear hit-and-run tactic is advisable.
2. Atlas Model: Ion and Tone fall into this category. Both have average armor and speed. You have one dash available by default. Depending on the configuration of the opposing Titans, you can also emerge victorious from a 1vs2 situation with these Titans.
3. Ogre Model: The last category includes the pyromaniac Scorch and the Arnold Schwarzenegger fan and Bible fanatic Legion. With superior armor but the speed of a turtle, you should never start a fight in the open but always have a cover option ready. These models do not come with a dash.
What standard Titan kits are there?
These kits are the same for all Titans. Only one can be selected at a time.
1. Assault Chip: Improved Auto-Titan – once you leave the Titan via the normal exit (holding the square button), the AI takes control of the Titan. As a pilot, you can assign the Titan either an aggressive (follow) or defensive (wait) mode using the down button on the d-pad. With this kit, the AI is smarter and uses not only the primary weapon but also its abilities.
2. Stealth Auto-Exit: Once the Titan drops into critical condition (indicated by the striped health bar display) and is therefore vulnerable to executions (=one-hit melee kill of another Titan), the pilot is automatically and invisibly ejected from the Titan.
3. Turbo Engine: You gain an additional dash and are therefore even more mobile.
4. Overcore: The core system (=Titan’s ultimate attack) is already 30% filled at Titanfall – the core system operates similarly to how the Titanfall is loaded.
5. Nuclear Ejection: Once the emergency ejection is activated (in critical health state, this is initiated with 3x square, in non-critical state with the up button + 3x square), your Titan self-destructs, causing very significant damage to nearby enemies.
6. Ready for Counterattack: You gain an additional electric smoke attack (normally only available at 20% of the core system), this is useful against pilots who jump onto your Titan to deal massive damage.
In the following pages, we will take a closer look at each Titan. Let’s go to page 2 with our first Stryder Titan!
