Scorch belongs to the Ogre models. All its weapons and abilities are based on Thermite. With it, he sets other Titans on fire and damages them over time – however, Scorch can also hurt himself with his Thermite, so good positioning is key! A skilled Scorch player can clear entire areas from enemies in seconds.
Scorch has the following abilities:
Fire Wall: You place a thermite wall in a straight line that lasts for a few seconds and engulfs the area in flames.
Heat Shield: Similar to Ion’s Vortex Shield, Scorch has a shield. This melts incoming projectiles and damages nearby enemies.
Brand Trap: Scorch fires a canister that releases ring-shaped thermite gas. Upon contact with thermite from Scorch’s primary weapon or abilities, the gas ignites and inflicts high damage on all enemies in the burning area.
System Ability Fire Core: Scorch strikes the ground with both fists and releases a thermite shockwave in the direction of sight, enveloping enemies and dealing devastating damage.
Which kits are recommended for Scorch?
Fly thinks: Since Scorch is an Ogre model, the Turbo Engine is the only consideration for standard kits for me, to counteract Scorch’s sluggishness and be able to quickly withdraw or push forward. Alternatively, as usual, you can also opt for Nuclear Ejection, and Overcore is an option as long as you can manage without the dash.
As a Titan-bound kit, I use the Inferno Shield. With a fully charged shield, you can bring Stryder and Atlas models from full health to doomed status or block a tremendous amount of damage.
If you have trouble getting close enough to the enemy as Scorch, the new kit “Burned Earth” is also recommended, which additionally sets the ground on fire and leaves thermite behind. The other three kits (the fire wall lasts longer, the thermite thrower fires a larger thermite ball, less damage from your own thermite) I find less helpful.
Titanfall 2 Guide Scorch: Some Titans just want to see the earth burn …
As Scorch, you should first internalize the following: Scorch’s thermite thrower and fire trap have a natural trajectory. The thermite projectile and gas canister fall after a few meters, keep in mind this drop curve while playing. Also, not helpful: the thermite thrower needs to be reloaded after each shot, so every shot should ideally be a hit.
In ranged combat, try to stay behind cover and set enemies on fire with the thermite thrower. Scorch’s greatest strength is close combat, or possibly medium ranges. Throw a fire trap at the enemy and immediately strike with the fire wall. If the enemy does not retreat (or cannot), immediately throw a second fire trap since the damage from the fire traps stacks. Try to get right up to the enemy and throw your (preferably fully charged) heat shield in their face. This way you melt enemy Titans in seconds while simultaneously shielding yourself from their weapons.
Use the fire system as much as possible; the damage is devastating, and it is better to hit an enemy Titan than to miss. Ideally, you can hit a group of enemy Titans with it. In principle, you can remember the following tactic for Scorch: Attack all opponents who are farther away than the heat shield’s range with the fire trap-fire wall combo or your fire system.
