With Legion, the tank among the Titans takes the stage. As it belongs to the Ogre class, it possesses a large health pool and is correspondingly slow in its movements.
With Legion, everything revolves – in the truest sense of the word – around the Predator Cannon, a Gatling gun, its only armament. Legion is predisposed to clear and claim areas on the map. Even at a distance, Legion is not completely helpless – its Predator Cannon has two different modes, one for close and one for ranged combat!
Legion has the following abilities:
Power Shot: Depending on which mode Legion’s Predator Cannon is in, the power shot behaves differently. In close combat, it fires a shot that riddles the area in front of it with bullets and knocks back other Titans, while in long-range combat, it fires a sniper shot after a short charging time. It is important to note that the power shot takes about 2 seconds to execute after activation.
Weapon Shield: When activating its defensive ability, Legion creates a portable shield around the barrel of its weapon – which partially protects it from incoming fire. After a while or with enemy fire, the shield disappears.
Mode Switch: As mentioned, Legion’s Gatling can switch between close and long-range combat. This ability is designated as a separate ability.
System Ability Smart Core: Once Legion activates its Smart System, it gains an aim-bot for a limited time that targets enemies in its line of sight and prioritizes enemy pilots. Additionally, the Predator Cannon does not need to be reloaded while the Smart System is active, greatly enhancing the DPS! Note that the Smart System cannot be initiated while Legion is reloading.
Which kits are recommended for Legion?
groovy666 thinks: For the standard Titan kit, my choice falls on Turbo Engine. Since Legion has no dash available, this can at least derive a bit of mobility out of it. For the Titan-specific kit, I use the Sensor Matrix – which extends the Smart System by a few seconds. This makes it possible to engage even against multiple Titans in open combat and come out victorious, as the outgoing DPS is significantly increased with the Sensor Matrix.
If you want to act more offensively than I do, you can also choose Increased Ammunition Capacity or Secret Compartment for a second power shot charge.
Titanfall 2 Guide Legion: So to play an “aim-bot”
With Legion, you have a damage dealer with the health pool of a tank, and during its core system, it also gets an aim-bot and unlimited ammunition. So is Legion during its system ability an “egg-laying wool-milk pig”? Well, not really. Against an approaching Ronin and the area damage or flame shield from Scorch, you are at a significant disadvantage due to your own clumsiness. Additionally, Ion can shut down outgoing DPS to zero with its Vortex Shield even in Smart System.
The best strategy is to eliminate or damage your opponents from a distance to have your system ability ready before taking too much damage. In long-range mode, you pay for the increased precision with the Predator Cannon’s magazine emptying twice as fast as in close-range mode.
When taking incoming damage, use the shield, which slows you down, and once it’s gone, use the dash to quickly get back into cover and reload there. In most cases, you can now wait for the shield to be ready again and repeat the whole process. While this method takes a while for the core system to be ready, you lose hardly any HP in contrast.
For unloading the Smart System, you can venture a bit closer to enemies and eliminate them with the shield and a virtually endless number of bullets. The great advantage of the other system abilities is that they last relatively long – thanks to the Sensor Matrix! – and you can easily clean or hold an area against AI, pilots, and Titans.
