Ronin’s specialty is close combat, where he can unleash with his broad sword and shotgun. Both weapons are excellent for taking out enemy pilots. The broad sword slices through any pilot in a small area in front of you; you just have to keep the pilot in your sight.
Ronin’s shotgun, the Lead Wall, can fire four times before needing to be reloaded. The shotgun only spreads in a horizontal line and loses a majority of its damage potential after a few meters.
Ronin has the following abilities:
Electro Wave: Strikes in the direction of sight with an electric whip, dealing damage and slowing other Titans on contact (also penetrates Tone’s particle wall).
Phase Sprint: The A and O in Ronin’s repertoire. Warp to another dimension, where you can only see other Titans and pilots who are also in that dimension. Ideal for quick advances or retreats. But watch out – if you return to the position of another Titan, Ronin will be destroyed immediately!
Sword Block: Ronin holds his broad sword in front of him and deflects incoming projectiles, thus reducing a certain percentage of damage.
System Ability Sword Core: In this mode, the shotgun is not selectable, instead you can use the dash continuously. The sword block minimizes even more incoming damage. The only downside of the sword core mode: Ronin requires two strikes to completely destroy a doomed Titan, he cannot execute in this mode, but can be executed by other Titans.
Which kits are recommended for Ronin?
Flythinks: My personal favorite of the general kits is the Nuclear Ejection. Since Ronin typically meets his demise in close combat, you can retaliate right at the enemy (and careless surrounding enemies). If you kill enemies with the Nuclear Ejection, you can generally call in the next Titan immediately – if you do it right, you’ll have a Ronin for yourself after the first Titanfall (how much does the militia cost, I wonder?)
Otherwise, the additional dash is also recommended to further enhance Ronin’s mobility.
As a Titan-bound kit, I prefer the Time Anomaly, which reduces the cooldown of your Phase Shift. This ability is on permanent cooldown for me. It simply supports Ronin’s mobility too much to do without and allows for a quick advance and retreat.

As Ronin, you must firmly remember: You are a leaf in the wind. Z When you face multiple Titans, you will be taken down faster than you can shout “By Xur’s tentacles!” Exception: Multiple enemy Titans are clustered together. In this case, you can use Phase Shift to get in their midst and use Nuclear Ejection to blow up as many of those tin cans as possible. This will deal a heavy blow to the enemy and, as a positive side effect, you can directly request a new Ronin.
Otherwise, the following applies: Choose your fights wisely. If you run around a corner and encounter several dispersed Titans, activate the Sword Block and retreat using your Dash or Phase Shift. Ronin is strongest against single Titans. Rush towards your target quickly using the Sword Block or Phase Shift, activate the Electro Wave, and use the shotgun to attack. Try to position yourself in such a way that you hit the critical spot of the opponent while minimizing the chance of them targeting you. Also use Phase Shift to evade enemy core systems and/or to reload your shotgun.
The same goes for Ronin’s core ability; you should only bear in mind that the Sword Block absorbs a lot of damage in core mode. You can block an incoming rocket salvo (core ability) from Tone and even survive a Nuclear Ejection from an enemy pilot!
In conclusion, all I can say is: The sword belongs to you, pilots!
