Titanfall 2 is overshadowed by the major shooter releases this autumn. However, the game has a lot to offer that makes the FPS heart race.
At the end of October, EA’s first-person shooter Titanfall 2 was released. However, without the expected bang. Just a few days earlier, the highly anticipated title Battlefield 1 was released, and in early November Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare followed. Both are major franchises in the shooter genre, regularly battling for the throne. In this “sandwich situation,” the shooter from Respawn and EA was somewhat overlooked.
The first impressions of the sales figures confirm this. Titanfall 2 is said to have earned 75% less in the UK than its predecessor. In addition, EA’s Blake Jorgensen stated that short-term sales success isn’t the priority, rather the long-term establishment of the Titanfall brand is what’s important. This is also an indication that the sales figures of the shooter still have a lot of room for improvement.
“Everyone who has played it loves it”
Jorgensen emphasized that everyone who played Titanfall 2 loves it. This is also reflected in the ratings on Metacritic. The metascores on PS4, Xbox One, and PC are close to the 90 rating. Users are also predominantly enthusiastic and give high ratings. Compared to established shooters, Titanfall 2 can easily compete with Battlefield 1 in user opinions – and leave Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare far behind.
In our article on the “shooter crisis”, numerous readers explicitly praise Titanfall 2 and see it as an undeserved victim of the crisis.

A unique gaming experience
In Titanfall 2, it’s about two things: your pilot and your titan. In a single-player campaign and a fast-paced and varied multiplayer, you must become one with your titan – to merge into an unstoppable combat machine.
This combination of pilot and titan is what makes the shooter appealing. First, you dash between the buildings, run along walls or swing like Spider-Man with the grappling hook across the map, and in the next moment, you control a towering titan, a heavily armed combat colossus that demolishes everything in its way. The mix of fast, intuitive, and deadly combat is well received.
The multiplayer is motivating
In Titanfall 2, there are numerous things to unlock in multiplayer mode. You always have goals to achieve: a new weapon, a new upgrade, a new skin – both pilot and titan can be extensively upgraded. The progression system is motivating. Here you can find all the abilities of the pilot at a glance.
Numerous game modes
The multiplayer of Titanfall 2 offers a variety of game modes – not just conquest or capture-the-flag. If you prefer the “pilot vs. pilot” fight, you can select a match without titans. If you enjoy playing with titans, choose “last titan standing,” a round-based elimination match with titans. A dozen multiplayer modes ensure more variety – including private matches.
By the way: Titanfall 2 offers networks in multiplayer, allowing you to easily and quickly join other players and play together. You also earn bonus rewards when playing during the network’s happy hour.
All future gameplay content is free
EA and Respawn promised that all future maps, modes, and weapons for Titanfall 2 will come in the form of free DLCs. All innovations affecting gameplay will be free for Titanfall players. The developers want to avoid splitting the community with paid updates. The first DLC “Angel City’s Most Wanted” keeps this promise.
The single player is fantastic!
Titanfall 2 comes with a campaign that, while short, is really good. Some users even say this is the best story in an FPS shooter ever. The combination of outstanding gameplay mechanics and an engaging story was able to exceed the expectations of many critics and fans.
Time says: I have already dipped into the shooter and must say: Titanfall 2 plays excellently. Those familiar with Destiny gameplay will quickly find their way around in Titanfall 2. On the one hand, the controls are quite similar; on the other hand, both shooters feel extremely good. In this respect, being compared to Destiny is a great compliment.
I’ve also noticed in my circle of acquaintances and friends that no one who plays Titanfall 2 has ever said a bad word about it. In the WhatsApp groups, recommendations have been made, and as soon as the game is on sale somewhere, it gets pointed out immediately.
