Leveling up can be tedious and take a long time in Conan Exiles. With our leveling guide, you can ensure that you reach the maximum level quickly and comfortably.
The maximum level in Conan Exiles is level 60. The journey to get there can be long. Especially beginners may have difficulty finding their way. With our tips, you can ensure that the path to level 60 goes faster.
Conan Exiles Level Guide to Max Level 60
You can reach level 60 fastest if you consider a few things while leveling:
Be flexible. If you want to quickly reach the maximum level in Conan Exiles, you must be able to adapt. Circumstances often require that you take a more effective route for the moment, such as when you run out of iron and can’t find any nearby.
Never follow just one path. There are multiple ways to level up quickly. However, never follow just one path but combine it with other possibilities. This way, you can maximize the experience points you gain from your time.
Think about what you will do next. If you run into the desert aimlessly, you will waste a lot of time. Think about which method you want to use to level up the next five or ten levels and plan your route accordingly. Familiarize yourself with the area and compare it with your options.
Quick tips:
- Do as much as possible at your current level. You may need the preparation for later.
- Collect talent points and learn talents that you might need at the moment. You can reset everything at level 60 anyway.
- Think ahead. If you have to do things at a later point that are intended for lower levels, it will take time for little gain.
- Don’t play alone. In a group, especially with higher-level friends, you’ll progress faster and can tackle more lucrative activities.
For better clarity, we will explain all the ways to level up effectively in the following sections.
Leveling up quickly through Journey
The quickest way to level up fast is the Journey. The Journey is a kind of orientation system meant to help players find their way in Conan Exiles. Whenever you don’t know what to do, just try to complete the next step of the Journey.
The individual steps of the Journey grant you a large chunk of experience points. Initial steps can be completed quickly and are relatively easy. Later goals can be quite dangerous.
The Journey acts as an anchor for all your activities. If you always pursue one of the steps, you can easily complete all other tips from this guide alongside. This maximizes your experience gained and allows you to reach level 60 in a few hours.
Immediately fulfill all easy steps for fast leveling. Most of them you can complete alone, but some require friends or a clan. The easy steps are:
- Chapters 1-4 of the Journey
- Improve a building part (Chapter 5)
- Ride an elevator (Chapter 5)
- Decorate yourself with war paint (Chapter 5)
- Modify a weapon (Chapter 6)
- Modify armor (Chapter 6)
- Crush something in the fluid press (Chapter 6)
- Disable, bleed and sever enemies (all Chapter 6)
- Survive a sandstorm outside the shelter (Chapter 7)
- Wear a bandit armor piece (Chapter 7)
- Remove corruption by watching a performer (Chapter 7)
- Get drunk without restraint (Chapter 8)
- Drink a yellow lotus potion (Chapter 8)
- Equip a Nordheimer armor set (Chapter 9)
With these steps alone, you should be able to reach around level 30.

Experience through fighting
Combat in Conan Exiles is one of the game’s pillars. You will hardly survive in the world without fighting. In the beginning, fights are quite easy, but they become harder around the first areas in the desert.
Leveling through fights only becomes effective at higher levels. In the early levels, you will hardly gain experience for killing hyenas or exiles. However, starting around level 30-40, this increases.
Killing stronger opponents grants more experience points. Once you venture into the jungle or push into the icy north, you will notice that the enemies reward you with significantly more experience points.
Some points where you can level up well through fighting:
- Gorillas in the Lost City Xel-Ha (between levels 20 and 35)
- Nordheimers in New Asgarth (between levels 30 and 40)
- Nordheimers at the God Towers (between levels 35-45)
- The Hills of the Dead (between levels 45 and 55)
- Undead and Frost Giants in the North (from level 50, dangerous!)
- The Volcano (from level 55, dangerous!)
- All dungeons (from level 40, only in groups!)
- World bosses (from level 40, only in groups, very dangerous!)
If you want to level solely through fighting, you should quickly acquire good weapons and armor. It’s best to have a higher-level friend craft equipment for you. You can use any equipment at any time, but you can’t repair it – for that, you need help again.
With strong gear, you can venture into areas that are not yet suitable for you. However, it is always easiest in groups.

Leveling through exploration
Exploring special locations grants a lot of experience. On your journey through the Exiled Lands, you will repeatedly come across places that you can “discover.” Special landmarks, enemy camps, or ruins grant experience when explored.
Most of the time, you are anyway out and about to gather resources or find a new building spot. Take these opportunities to look around left and right of the path.
Exploration is only effective when combined with other activities. Exploring alone takes too much time to be effective for leveling up. However, it runs steadily in the background and passively supplies you with experience points. It’s especially worthwhile to explore an area thoroughly when completing steps of the “Journey.”
However, you can gain so much experience through exploring the world that you can reach level 60 just from that. Although it takes a long time, in combination with the steps of the Journey that require exploration, the experience is sufficient. Exploring alone is not an effective way, but it is an option.

Crafting and Building
Crafting and building are ways to level up that complement every other activity, but they can also function independently. It’s important to note: The higher the quality of the materials you process, the more experience points you gain.
You already gain a lot of experience just by collecting resources. In Conan Exiles, you gain experience just for mining ores, wood, or other resources. This makes crafting an ideal complement to any other activity.
- Crafting and the Journey: Many steps of the Journey require you to craft or equip items. If you complete the production entirely yourself, you gain experience points from gathering, crafting, and the Journey step.
- Crafting and Combat: Every creature you kill can be processed. You can turn hides into leather and armor, meat into food, and special, religious loot from humans for the religion. It is always worthwhile to process the victims after a fight.
- Crafting and Exploration: During exploration trips, you’ll encounter special materials, especially in tougher areas. Mark these locations and take as much as you can carry – you can process the materials for many experience points and already gain experience for the mining.
- Crafting and Building: You gain experience for each construction part you place. So, if you diligently create foundations and walls for ever larger houses, you continuously gain experience points. The highest building levels, particularly those reinforced with black ice, are especially worthwhile.

You gain experience even when you create items in workshops that run automatically. A special tip is: Always let your furnaces produce iron or steel, ideally in multiple production facilities at the same time. If you also have at least one level-2 blacksmith at your blacksmith’s bench, you can turn iron bars into steel reinforcements without loss and then convert them back into steel bars. This way, you can passively earn experience points at any time.
