A user has built an aimbot using AI and a controller, demonstrating how effective this bot is. The presentation ignites a heated discussion among users about whether such cheats can even be seen in the future.
Among honest players, cheaters are despised as they use unfair methods to win. Usually, software is involved. Many developers therefore try to quickly ban cheaters from their servers to ensure that the matches remain fair and players can win honestly. In some cases, players supply cheaters with software that causes more frustration than victories.
But what happens when you build an aimbot out of hardware and connect it to a controller? An inventor has tried this and presented it.
Aimbot can recognize a new target in milliseconds
What did the user do? A clever user has now presented an aimbot in a short video on reddit. He built it out of a robotic arm and several small circuit boards and mounted it to an Xbox controller. He connected it with AI. The result is quite impressive.
How good is the robot? On a digital, square field, you have to balance a ball while always staying on a marking. And this marking changes position very quickly, so the ball needs to be repositioned. The artificial intelligence responds in milliseconds and realigns the ball to the marking. Probably, no human could respond to this change that quickly.
The video, however, does not show the full potential of the robot, as it only demonstrates the function on the square. An aimbot from another inventor is already significantly more advanced, as it can actually play shooters and hits better than many professionals:
A user also explains that it is hardly possible to catch such a bot. Because to detect such a bot, you need to train the cheat software with human gameplay data. Afterwards, you can analyze the reactions and check if the inputs come from a human or from software. Normal cheat software, however, would have no chance.
Community is equally fascinated and shocked
How do users react? Many people on reddit express their fascination with the video and the machine. It is indeed unique how precisely the small robotic hand balances the ball on the digital tablet.
A user with the most upvotes explains what many might think watching the short video:
This is the kind of cheat that even a kernel-level anti-cheat system cannot prevent.
And another thoughtfully adds:
It’s sad to think about how many PvP gaming experiences are ruined by people who are somehow proud that their machines can defeat real humans.
In the next step, the inventor would now have to try his robot in a “real” game. And for that, he does not even have to lower the graphics, as many real professionals do. Because they significantly reduce their graphics settings to be able to play competitively. Why, we explain here on MeinMMO:
The best shooter professionals in the world play with the lowest graphics – you should do that too
