A TikToker orders a few new iPhones. But in the end, he receives the devices by the crate. He shares the bizarre case on social media. However, many people in the community don’t believe him.
It happens that people order a product and then accidentally receive much too much or even something completely different.
The American TikToker “legends_gio” ordered 4 new iPhone 15 Pro Max with 1 TB of storage from Apple. The price for a single device is 1,849 euros. But when the shipment arrived, he was not a little surprised.

What was the problem? He expected to receive the four devices he ordered and paid for, but instead found himself with three large crates. When he opened the 3 crates, he was surprised: he found 20 iPhone 15 Pro Max with 1 TB of storage in each box. In total, there are 60 devices with a total value of over 100,000 euros.

Colleagues from Applesfera.com speculate that the shipment with the three crates arrived at the wrong address and that the packages were originally on their way to an Apple Store.
What will he do with all the devices? Apple must have noticed the mistake and reached out to the TikToker. After all, we’re talking about a value of over 100,000 euros. Moreover, he probably can’t do much with the many devices. Because Apple can deactivate the devices, making the iPhones virtually useless.
Colleagues from Applesfera already mentioned: The deactivated devices are then nothing better than overpriced paperweights.
Many sellers do this with smartphones. They then have the IMEI number of the smartphone placed on a blacklist. This makes it impossible to connect to the mobile network, and you can no longer make calls or use mobile data with the stolen device.
The community believes he is a fraud seeking fame
Why is the “story” being criticized? Many criticize on reddit the story of the TikToker. One person explains that the whole action is hard to believe and speculates: “He probably ordered all the phones, became famous on the internet, and will return them all.” After all, his 15 million views speak for that.
Another person explains that the TikToker presumably once worked at Apple or still does. Because usually, iPhones are not shipped in such crates when purchased privately or for a company (via reddit.com):
I bet he is a former inventory control specialist at the Apple Store who is probably being sought by Apple Loss Prevention and the local police, as the devices were apparently removed from the store.
Justification… I bought up to 40 iPhones at a time for our corporate organization – and they never arrived in these crates. These boxes are used by Apple for stocking stores and distribution centers – I was a Mac Genius for 7 years, so I remember such boxes. When a customer buys many devices, they do not receive these boxes.
A third user adds in confusion that one would never share such a mistake with the world: “Imagine you receive $100,000 instead of $4,000 in the mail and your first step is to tell everyone about [the mistake]?”
In a further video on TikTok from November 2, 2023, which still manages to gather nearly 1.1 million views, the TikToker “legends_gio” explains again that it must be a mistake and that he didn’t pay for the excess devices. He himself states “technically speaking, these are now my [devices].” However, he does not provide proof by presenting a credit card or similar.
However, his remaining videos couldn’t take much away from the short “fame”. Because they rather hover between 10,000 and 15,000 views. His main themes also seem to be more high-performance cars than expensive phones.
Another user has now bought an old phone for over 160,000 euros.
