One of the most beautiful feelings in video games is when you finally defeat a difficult boss that has driven you to despair for a long time. Elden Ring is one of those games that relies on this feeling due to its high difficulty. You feel powerful when you defeat one of the feared fighters. With a hidden change in patch 1.04, you now feel even more powerful than before, as fights against multiple bosses have become easier.
What secret change is it? FromSoftware’s successful title Elden Ring is a real challenge. Extremely difficult boss fights characterize the entire gameplay.
It becomes particularly tricky when instead of one extremely strong boss, two or three strong bosses suddenly want to fight the player at the same time.
A YouTuber has now discovered that FromSoftware has apparently made those group boss fights easier in patch 1.04 without mentioning the change in the patch notes.

Reduced Aggressiveness of Bosses
How has FromSoftware changed the boss fights? Elden Ring developer FromSoftware has allegedly made group boss fights easier through various changes to the bosses’ behavior.
In general, there is likely to be one or more so-called primary attackers among the bosses who attack the player, while the other bosses behave a bit more passively. Who the current primary and secondary attacker is can change during the boss fight.
In patch 1.04, there seems to have been a change that reduces the number of primary attackers. This change is intended to prevent all bosses in the arena from attacking the player simultaneously.
Furthermore, the aggressiveness of the bosses that are not primary attackers is said to have been reduced. This affects the fight in practice in such a way that, for example, in a duo boss fight, one of the two opponents aggressively attacks you as the primary attacker, while the other holds back more passively in the background.
To keep track, we list the changes at this point:
- Number of primary attackers reduced
- Non-primary/secondary attackers are less aggressive
Which bosses were adjusted? The change in group boss fights apparently does not affect all boss fights of the category. There are also said to be some bosses that only received part of the changes.
Group boss fights that received both changes:
- Crystallians
- Mad Pumpkin Heads
- Abductor Virgins
Boss fights that were only partially adjusted:
- Erdtree Avatars
- Crucible Knights
Some bosses in Elden Ring are a real challenge, even when they do not attack you in a group. Among the most feared opponents of the action RPG is Malenia. Check out MeinMMO for the story of a player who became the hero of the community in the fight against the warrior:
YouTube Channel Discovers Secret Changes
Where does the information come from? FromSoftware did not mention the changes in the official patch notes. The YouTube channel illusory wall reported in a video on May 27, 2022, about the change of group boss fights as well as 9 other secret changes.
Illusory wall is known especially for videos on games like Elden Ring and Dark Souls. In his videos, he points out changes in gameplay mechanics and maps that are not mentioned in the patch notes or explains gameplay details and secrets of the titles.
The channel, established in 2013, has 122,000 subscribers on YouTube and has received several hundred thousand views for its recent videos.

Elden Ring, like other action RPGs from FromSoftware, is characterized by its high difficulty and the enormous challenge of some boss fights.
Players must learn the movement patterns of their opponents, design perfectly tuned builds, and, despite numerous failed attempts, keep their patience when they want to defeat a boss.
Nevertheless, a well-known speedrunner recently managed to take down every boss that must be defeated to complete the story of Elden Ring with just one single hit.
