Throne and Liberty was released on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. There are already some tests and reviews, and our MMORPG expert Karsten Scholz discusses his first impression in a talk with GameStar.
What is the talk about? Our MMORPG expert Karsten Scholz talks in the talk with Julius Busch from GameStar about his first impressions of Throne and Liberty, as he was able to play the title for quite some time. His pre-evaluation is based on the Open Beta in July and early access on September 26, 2024. Of course, he was also there at the official launch – even with a ticker!
The talk addresses the important points regarding Throne and Liberty. For example, what are the special features of Throne and Liberty and how significant the payment system is, especially in connection with bots.
Another topic: What the biggest problems in the game are and how things should progress in the future. Additionally, it will be answered whether the title lives up to the MMORPG factor – how massive is the game really?

The Critique of Throne and Liberty
What are the current reviews? Throne and Liberty is currently in a bad state. The title had a rocky start as the technology mostly did not cooperate. As soon as you created your character, you got kicked out of the game and had to start over. Others didn’t even make it that far. This left a bad first impression on many.
Amazon Games tried hard to resolve the issues. The publisher released additional servers and increased server capacities. But the player base is upset, and this can also be seen in the current reviews. On Steam, the rating dropped from 65 percent right after the official launch to 54 percent. However, it’s not just the technology that is criticized, but also the gameplay and the story.
On the well-known review aggregator Metacritic, only ten reviews have come in so far. The average currently sits at 75. Of course, this is just a small preliminary assessment, as the game only really launched on October 1, 2024. Thus, there can still be significant changes regarding this. Especially since at this point, hardly anyone has reached the endgame.
What makes Throne and Liberty special? The title promises some massive open-world battles. A special focus is on player cooperation. Guilds are an extremely important point because there are many activities that reward ambitious guilds, such as the castle siege at “Castle Rockwatch,” which turns into a huge PvP battle.
Throne and Liberty also offers exciting dungeons. There are coop dungeons, solo dungeons, and open-world dungeons waiting for you. Especially interesting are the dungeons in the open world, as they are peaceful areas by day, but transform into PvP zones by night. Generally, the PvP factor is heavily emphasized in this game.
