Throne and Liberty is an upcoming MMORPG that fans are eagerly anticipating. It is supposed to be released in 2023, but will there be a beta before that?
According to a survey on MeinMMO, MMORPG fans are looking forward to no game as much as Throne and Liberty.
The developers NCSoft announced tests in South Korea at the end of February, which took place over 2 days. 100 players were allowed to participate, but only if they were in Korea at the time. They could play for a maximum of 5 hours on both days.
Final tests in Korea, release is approaching
The Korean beta managed to be the final tests, according to the developers. Thus, it is very likely that there will be no further tests – neither in Korea nor in the West.
Instead, the planned release date of Throne and Liberty is drawing nearer: The MMORPG is supposed to be released in the first half of 2023, at the latest by June 2023. NCSoft has not yet provided an exact date.
Meanwhile, we know that Amazon will be the publisher of the MMORPG and it will likely be released on Steam. The release for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S is planned to coincide with the PC version.

Reports from the beta sounded somewhat negative
The beta in February was actually subject to a confidentiality agreement, but some information about the MMORPG still leaked. Thus, we were able to learn a few things in advance through Reddit and Korean forums.
- The combat system is said to be very action-packed, according to the developers – but testers criticize it, calling it static and boring. It uses tab targeting.
- The main focus in the endgame lies on PvP, which tends to deter PvE fans.
- The story is said to be more of a summary of events and generally very jumpy.
However, a few things received praise. This includes the graphics. The character editor and the environment were also praised by the beta testers.
However, keep in mind that this was a “secret” test. The final version may differ in many respects.
