The responsible parties from Amazon Games and NCSoft have revealed how many players have viewed Throne and Liberty at launch so far. Spoiler: Lost Ark was significantly more successful in 2022.
How many players are playing Throne and Liberty? So far, the updates from websites like steamdb.info have been used to get a sense of how many players have tried the western version of Throne and Liberty since launch.
In the past 24 hours, there were occasionally up to 285,864 players online at the same time in the new MMORPG. The all-time high (from last weekend) is 336,300 simultaneous active Steam users. However, these numbers only reflect snapshots and exclude the communities on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.

What do the official numbers look like? On the official website of Amazon Games (via amazongames.com), the publisher explains that they welcomed more than three million registered players in Solisium at the launch of Throne and Liberty. The players were able to accumulate 24 million hours of gameplay and over 11 million hours watched on Twitch.
How many of those players played on consoles is unclear. The significant difference between the current Steam peak and the official status report from Amazon Games suggests that Throne and Liberty has also built large communities on PS5 and Xbox Series.
How does Throne and Liberty compare to Lost Ark? About two and a half years ago, Amazon Games brought another Asian online role-playing game to the West. Lost Ark managed to attract more than 1.3 million players simultaneously to the servers at launch.
A press release dated March 30, 2022, also states that in just over two weeks, more than 10 million players tried the western version of Lost Ark. Worldwide, it was even around 20 million players. The watched hours on Twitch during the launch phase amounted to 158 million hours.
Is Throne and Liberty starting disappointingly? It is unclear what specific hopes and expectations the responsible parties from Amazon Games and NCSoft had for the launch of Throne and Liberty and the player numbers. However, the fact that the publisher released the numbers in a press release is a sign that the launch is considered a success.
Keep in mind that Lost Ark (and a year earlier New World) were extreme outliers that still rank in the all-time top 10 Steam games with the most simultaneous active players. Many other (Free2Play) MMORPGs were unable to claim even close to three million players at launch.
