With Guild Wars 2, The Elder Scrolls Online, and Black Desert there are three MMORPGs that will receive major updates in the coming weeks. Additionally, updates for Lost Ark and WoW have already been released this week. We at MeinMMO summarize all the important news of the week.
The Highlights of the Week:
- Guild Wars 2 will receive the big expansion End of Dragons on February 28, which we have introduced in detail here.
- ESO will release the new Update 33 on March 14. This will include account-wide achievements and marks the beginning of the story surrounding the High Isle, the new expansion.
- Black Desert has announced the new expansion The Mountain of Eternal Winter for April.
- New World, on the other hand, will receive another update in March that will bring new story content and a new weapon.
The Controversies of the Week: The new expansion in SWTOR is not well received by players. We at MeinMMO have tested the new content and come to a conclusion: SWTOR does 3 things really well with Legacy of the Sith – But that is far too little for an expansion.
The Discussions of the Week: How do you like the new Patch 9.2 in WoW? Feel free to let us know in the comments and participate in this survey:
FFXIV brings graphic overhaul, Lost Ark continues to struggle with queues and issues
What happened with the major MMORPGs:
- Lost Ark received two new updates this week. Patch number 1 focused on bug fixes for the Crystalline Aura and the queue for dungeons and PvP, but did not provide a permanent solution. Patch number 2 has brought a fix for the free Crystalline Aura and fixed some display errors. Queues when logging in still exist, as this statistic shows. Additionally, PvP has an overall issue, at least that’s what we at MeinMMO think.
- Patch 9.2 has been released in WoW. However, just a few days later, developers had to revise a quest. Furthermore, the director stated that Shadowlands was intended to end with Patch 9.2 from the start.
- Guild Wars 2 has shared a video summarizing the story. Additionally, some influencers were allowed to showcase new parts of Cantha (via MassivelyOP).
- Final Fantasy XIV has announced a new graphic update. Moreover, the director reaffirmed his stance on NFTs.
What happened with the minor MMORPGs:
- New World has announced the release of its major February update for February 28 at 2:00 PM German time (via New World).
- A SciFi MMORPG was dead on Steam for 7 years and is now suddenly back.
- Albion Online will introduce controller support next week, in line with the release of the Steam Deck (via MassivelyOP).
What happened with MMORPGs in development:
- Fractured, the sandbox MMORPG, has explained its city and housing mechanics in more detail (via Fractured).
- Into the Echo, the time travel MMORPG in Unreal Engine 5, has postponed the start of its alpha to mid-March (via Twitter).
