With an anime trailer, League of Legends (LoL) is currently amazing its fans. They find the new video visually brilliant and believe that we can now catch the first glimpse of the new champion Yone.
What kind of teaser is this? With the new video “The Path, an Ionian Tale,” Riot Games surprised its fans on July 15. The unique art style of the video is praised – viewers compare it to “really good anime.”
Players are sure that the video now provides the first official look at the next champion in League of Legends: Yone, Yasuo’s half-brother. Although he is not named, all the hints given about this character so far fit together here.
Millions of views, hundreds of thousands of likes – This is the new trailer
Watch the video here: We are embedding the “German” version of the trailer for you here. Although there isn’t much dialogue in general, the few words spoken are in German.
If you prefer to see the English original, you can find it here on the YouTube channel of League of Legends.
What is happening here? “In every tale lies a grain of truth. A slain swordsman must decide how to handle his past,” it says in the official YouTube description.
This fits with what is known so far about Yone as Yasuo’s half-brother. For Yone is, in fact, already dead.
In the trailer, the character wakes up in a kind of mystical forest that fits the Spirit Blossom theme.
After a rather peaceful, dreamlike walk, the dream takes the form of a nightmare. The figure enters a dark room and flips over a lifeless body. Shortly thereafter, light enters the room and reveals other petrified, lifeless bodies. Indistinct voices can be heard. Suddenly, the eyes of the turned-over body twitch. A clear, male voice is heard: “You could have saved them!”
Then a monstrous figure appears, beginning a fight with the protagonist of the story. The figure can teleport, apparently has magical swords, and can likely bite.
At the end of the clip, the mysterious fighter is seen with his mask, looking into the distance. Following that, the hint about the Spirit Blossom event on July 22.

How is the video being received? Not even 24 hours after the video was released, more than 2 million viewers had already seen the English original on YouTube. Additionally, there are more than 143,000 upvotes and over 12,000 comments.
On reddit , the video had more than 18,000 upvotes and over 2,200 comments after 17 hours.

What is known about Yone?
This is known: In a roadmap for League of Legends in June, Riot Games already hinted at which new characters will be coming to League of Legends. Among them is the officially revealed deer-girl Lillia. There is also talk of a masked assassin. Regarding the fighter, Riot writes:
AH! Am I perhaps asleep? Am I dreaming? I only remember purple dust and the sound of someone darting away.
Where am I? Something stirs within me, something dark that has been dormant until now. Something that I have suppressed. That masked figure in the distance… Is that me?
I hold two weapons in my hands. I recognize one of them and the presence within me recognizes the other. I channel the budding anger within me into something cold like the steel in my hand. Suddenly, I feel something pulling me towards the masked figure – towards me… The pull grows stronger and I feel my subconscious being drawn faster toward my body until…
I collide with it!
