You want to continue playing WoW: Classic and don’t feel like playing Burning Crusade? Then you need to take action and switch realms.
Even before BlizzConline, Blizzard announced the future of WoW: Classic through a leak. As many players and fans suspected beforehand, the journey continues with “Burning Crusade Classic”. But how does the transition to the new expansion happen? What happens to players who want to continue playing Classic? We will reveal how everything will unfold.
This is what happens to the current realms: If you are currently playing on a Classic server and want to be there when “Burning Crusade” launches, you don’t need to do anything further. All realms will transition to the new expansion with the release of BC and will receive fresh features like new talents, the level cap will increase to level 70, and the shattered world will be accessible.
How can you keep playing Classic? If you absolutely don’t want to experience the shattered world and prefer to live indefinitely in WoW: Classic, where Naxxramas is the final raid, you need to take action. Even before the release of Burning Crusade, there will be the option to transfer to new realms that will remain forever in the Classic era. There will be no expansions on these realms and they will stay at the current state as known from Classic.

Before the release of Burning Crusade Classic, players of WoW Classic can choose whether to allow each of their characters to transition with the rest of their realm into the era of Burning Crusade or to continue playing the original content of WoW Classic on new realms of the Classic era.
Does the transfer cost anything? This is not known and is not indicated in the leak. However, it is speculated that this transfer will be free within a certain timeframe, as players will have to make a decision. There will certainly be more information once BlizzCon starts.
When do you need to make a decision? There is no exact date for this yet. However, it is reasonable to assume that this decision must be made before the release of Burning Crusade Classic.
Otherwise, characters could already have data (like items, talents, etc.) from Burning Crusade, complicating a transfer. Players should start thinking about whether they want to play Burning Crusade or remain in Classic.
