Destiny 2 introduces the new Stasis subclass for Titans for Beyond Light. We can already say that, even in the DLC, Titans hit harder than anyone else and take more damage.
Destiny 2 is slowly revealing more information about the highly anticipated expansion Beyond Light, which will finally be released on November 10. So far, we have only been able to admire the Stasis super in spectacular trailers.
Now we have official information on the Ice abilities, and today the spotlight is on the new Titan subclass: the Colossus.
If you enjoy the playstyle of Titans in Destiny 2, you will soon have access to the archetypal Titan. The Colossus hits hard and takes a lot of damage – cliché? Maybe, but it sounds like a lot of fun.
Additionally, the new Stasis abilities allow you to manipulate the game world. For more information on the new Stasis element, check this out:
The Stasis abilities and skills of the Colossus Titan
This is the new melee attack: The unique melee ability of the Stasis Titan is called “Shiver Strike.” You leap towards the enemy in a huge jump and deliver a powerful blow with your frozen fist.
- The struck enemy is knocked back from the impact
- Nearby enemies are slowed by the impact
This attack is suitable for keeping a powerful opponent at a distance or to control an entire group.
So far, it seems that the jumping distance of the Stasis Strike is significantly greater than the comparable shoulder charges of the Arc, Void, and Solar variants. It will definitely please all Titans out there that the popular “charging at an enemy with full force” attack is back on the table.
This is how powerful the new super makes you: If you want to clean house, you activate the Colossus’s super called “Glacial Quake.” In addition to your Ice fist, you are surrounded by an ice armor for a while, which increases your defense.
In your super, you can
- hit even harder – plus there is unlimited melee energy
- jump further, higher, and faster
- send shockwaves that create ice crystals and barriers
- freeze enemies over a wide area
- shatter enemies by running or sliding into them.
You shouldn’t just mindlessly smash away; you can combine different maneuvers. For example, you can interrupt slide attacks and initiate a jump to perform a devastating area attack from above.
The Stasis super can essentially be compared to the Striker Titan, only it offers even more bonuses and allows for much more control on the battlefield. Particularly the ability to create cover out of ice to provide protection for the team sounds interesting.
What about the other abilities? Once again, Bungie is holding back on precise information regarding Stasis grenades. However, from trailers, we already know that they function at least in two ways:
- You can create ice walls and even craft new platforms to cross chasms
- Like the Fallen, you can create Stasis fields and slow down entire areas with a slow-motion effect
The Colossus also has access to fragments and aspects to customize his skills significantly. You can add extra effects to your jumps or class abilities and create your personal killing machine. How the new subclass system works has been summarized for you here by MeinMMO:
Destiny 2 completely changes how your subclasses work in Beyond Light.
What can the other Stasis classes do in Destiny 2 Beyond Light?
We have already introduced the Shadebinder from Beyond Light on MeinMMO. The Warlock will ultimately become the Space Mage – complete with ice magic wand and nasty melee attacks that actually come from a distance.
What about the Stasis Hunter? It is already known that the new subclass will be called Revenant. He will have access to two ice scythes that you can use for ranged attacks. We’ll get a closer look at the Stasis Hunter and his super on September 8.
What do you think of the Stasis Colossus? Are you glad that Titans are becoming even more “Titan-like” or did you expect something completely different from the brawler class? Let us know in the comments.
In Beyond Light, you will not only use nasty ice skills, but you will also venture to the icy moon Europa. There, the new raid awaits you, which is already causing speculation: Destiny 2: Mysterious Deep Stone Crypt could be more than just a new raid
