In Destiny 2, there seems to be a new super weapon in PvP: Lord of Wolves. Many players are pleading with Bungie for a nerf. They see the upcoming Iron Banner as at risk. However, the developers want to take a closer look at the issue first.
What weapon is it? Last weekend, several Destiny 2 players apparently discovered a new weapon that causes a lot of chaos in the Crucible. Several Destiny YouTubers released videos about the shotgun Lord of Wolves, showcasing how it dominated the PvP mode.
Lord of Wolves is an exotic shotgun that behaves more like a pulse rifle. Due to its intrinsic perk Shrapnel Launcher, the weapon fires a short-range salvo of solar damage.
By holding the reload button, Guardians can switch to a longer and more powerful salvo. This is activated through the perk Release the Wolves.

Lord of Wolves was actually one of the weapons that was supposed to be nerfed at the beginning of Season 7.
Why is the weapon so strong? On the Destiny subreddit, some players are desperately asking for a fix for the weapon. It seems that it is not the weapon itself that is problematic, but particularly the perk Release the Wolves that is being criticized. Players state that the normal fire mode of the shotgun is perfectly fine.
With Release the Wolves, Guardians would mow down everything that is not on the trees by three.

Previously, the perk was only triggered after a kill, but following the changes, it can now simply be activated by holding the reload button. Even though Lord of Wolves has been nerfed in parts, with Release the Wolves active, the shotgun currently wipes out every Guardian. Even for an active super, a maximum of 2 salvos are needed.
This is also evidenced by the video from Aztecross. He writes that he dealt with the weapon in the Crucible and experienced how “overpowered” or “broken” Lord of Wolves is.
Just before the next Iron Banner, which begins today, June 18, players are facing apprehension and asking Bungie to make quick adjustments to Lord of Wolves.
What does Bungie say? Community Manager dmg has already spoken about the weapon in a post on Reddit. In response to the many requests for a nerf, he stated that the team is currently looking into Lord of Wolves and the current fine-tuning.
When Bungie has more information, they will let the players know. Until then, the Guardians should release the wolves. Players should not expect a quick fix.
