In Teamfight Tactics, draws are becoming more frequent when only a few enemies are left. This is due to a strategy that was originally just a meme.
What is this strategy? The three champions Singed, Nami, and Zed cost 5 gold. Accordingly, you can only acquire them with a higher level. However, all three are very strong and can be perfectly played as a complement to any combo.
In the meta of patch 9.23, it is therefore now the norm for players to quickly level up to level 8 to get their hands on the coveted champions.
But if everyone follows this strategy, it can lead to problems.

Zed keeps causing draws
Which champion is particularly strong? Zed is very popular due to his ability. It clones him and also copies his items. The clones, in turn, clone themselves, and thus the entire board can be flooded with Zeds.
Therefore, it is also common to give him items that allow him to live longer, such as:
- Phantom Dancer
- Shadowblade
- Dragon Claw or Talisman of Light
The Phantom Dancer ensures that Zed becomes immune to critical damage, and Shadowblade continuously heals him and all surrounding champions. A very effective combo.
What is the problem? When both sides play with Zed and items of this kind, it often leads to the board being flooded on both sides, but neither wins.
A good example of this is the stream of Keanelol, a well-known LoL and TFT player. He wins the entire match in the end, but only because he has more health points at the point where the Zed armies clash:
Yet there are many other examples where Zed causes a draw.
What other scenarios are there? If you don’t want to bet your luck on Zed, you can also bring the 1-gold champion Renekton to level 3 and make him nearly immune to damage with Phantom Dancer and Dragon Claw.
Since Zed himself deals hardly any damage and only 6 Zeds can attack at the same time due to the board, Renekton can easily survive this, as Scarra proves. The only problem is that these matches also end in draws.
What can be done against these strategies? To stop Zed, you should rely on the Poison buff. This drains his mana. However, this combo relies on Singed, who is also a 5-gold champion.
Also useful against Zed and Renekton is reducing healing through the item Morellonomicon. Here, of course, Singed is the most effective!
The upcoming update will bring three new champions, but so far it doesn’t look like the specific 5-gold champions will be nerfed by the patch.
