As in every year, a demo will also be released before the launch of FIFA 21 in 2020. MeinMMO author Julian Schröder reveals what he expects from the free trial version.
Update, September 22: EA Sports has decided not to release a demo for FIFA 21. This also makes it clear that there will be no way to get a preview of the game outside of EA Play – which leads to some skepticism among some FIFA players.
When will the demo be released? We do not yet have an exact release date for the FIFA 21 demo. However, based on experiences from previous years, we can make a good estimate of when the demo should be released in 2020.
September 25, 2020, seems to be the most plausible date for the FIFA 21 demo, two weeks before the release.
What content does the demo offer? Just like the release date, the exact content of the demo is also not yet known. However, we will keep you updated and report as soon as there is any news about the demo:
If things go as they did last year, we can look forward to the kickoff mode as well as a VOLTA mode.
This is what I want to play in the FIFA 21 demo
A FIFA demo is always a great opportunity to see how the new FIFA feels and what gameplay innovations there are.
However, the demo can also be wonderfully used to check whether the annoyances of the predecessor are finally a thing of the past. Therefore, I hope that the demo offers the following:
The demo should show that headers are strong again
This is what I wish for: How many headed goals I scored in FIFA 20, I could probably count on both hands. Because one thing is certain: it wasn’t many.
- In FIFA 20, crosses were virtually useless
- Only passing combinations to the penalty area led to success
That’s why I hope to see an improvement in the FIFA 21 demo. I wish to finally be able to deliver crosses that are rewarded with beautiful headed goals. Because it was already unrealistic that even heading monsters like Cristiano Ronaldo could hardly score with headers in FIFA 20.
The demo must impress me with the new “Creative Runs”
This is what I wish for: A new gameplay feature that EA has heavily promoted is the new “Creative Runs”. Here we should have more control over the runs of our teammates and essentially control two players simultaneously.
I hope that this feature improves my playing style and is not too complicated.
Because if I already notice in the demo that this new feature leads to more goals, then I would be even more excited to perfect it in the final game.
The demo must prove that VOLTA is worth my time
This is what I wish for: I only tried VOLTA last year, like many other players, and then left it aside. However, the street mode has the potential to be really cool. And EA promises some innovations for FIFA 21 and particularly the new VOLTA co-op mode sounds really exciting.
However, I mainly need better VOLTA gameplay to enjoy the street mode of FIFA 21. In FIFA 20, the gameplay was somewhat clunky in many places. For example, it was incredibly hard to hit the small goals or to dribble really precisely.
Therefore, I wish for VOLTA in FIFA 21 that exactly these criticisms are addressed, and the demo makes me want VOLTA even more. Because playing the VOLTA mode online with friends, similar to Pro Clubs, already sounds really cool.
What do you wish for in the FIFA 21 demo? Are you looking forward to the innovations of the new FIFA installment? We have summarized all previously official information about the game in our overview of FIFA 21 for you.
