Something has slipped into the PTR of the latest patch for World of Warcraft. For many, this is solid proof that there is a new allied race.
Since the Vulpera appeared in World of Warcraft, they have divided the community into two camps. One group cannot relate to the “fluffy, cute” design of the Vulpera. The other side wishes for Vulpera as a playable race and looks for every possible hint that would confirm them as an allied race. Such a hint has now appeared on the PTR for Patch 8.2 Rise of Azshara.
An icon for Brewfest revealed it: The colleagues at wowhead have extracted some new icons from the game data of Patch 8.2. As Blizzard is revamping Brewfest, it needs some new interface elements. There is a group of icons, each assigned to one of the allied races:
- Dark Iron
- Draenei (Lightforged)
- Highmountain Tauren
- Mag’har
- Nightborne
- Void Elves
However, it does not end there. There is another icon in the group:
- Vulpera
For many fans, this is the crucial hint that Vulpera will become the next allied race.
When could Vulpera appear? Since Brewfest traditionally takes place in September, it makes sense that the Vulpera would appear beforehand. The release of the next Patch 8.2 is currently estimated for early June. If Blizzard sticks to its rhythm, the next Patch (likely 8.2.5) would follow around August. This timing would be perfect for the Vulpera to participate in Brewfest in September.
Model and skeleton provide further clues: Another clue is the fact that the Vulpera and Goblins use similar models that are based on the same skeleton. The Goblins still have a character model overhaul pending, which is supposed to happen in the coming months. Since this also brings an update for the skeleton (which is responsible for animations), it could just as well be used for the Vulpera.
Please remember that this is just extracted data from the PTR. It is possible that these are just plans that may never come to fruition.
