As in the predecessor, in The Division 2 you have your own Operations Base. This time it is the White House, the former government and residence of the US President. We summarize why it is so important and how it works.
As part of the Division, it is your task in The Division 2 to protect the city from civil war and the control of enemy factions. But Division agents also need a hideout where they can organize: the White House. There has been speculation for a long time that you need to rebuild the White House
Your new home in The Division 2: The new Operations Base is even more historical than the main post office of New York, which was the base in The Division 1. Now it is the place from where the USA was governed before the downfall.
At its core, it functions just like in the predecessor, but there are some changes to the Operations Base. We explain how it works and what the differences from the first part are.

This is how it was in Part 1: The Operations Base of The Division 1 is located in the main post office of New York and is divided into three different wings:
- Medical
- Technical
- Security
These three wings were also the focus of the story campaign. There are three different types of main and side missions that rewarded players with points for each area upon completion.
With these points, you could unlock passive perks and active skills for your character.

The Operations Base of The Division 2
At the beginning of the game, the White House is in a poor state. The Division in D.C. has failed and could barely hold on there.
This is how the base works: Primarily, the White House is the headquarters of the Division of Washington D.C. or at least what is left of it. It serves as a hideout and houses several important NPCs who also play a role in the story. You will also find:
- A crafting station,
- A recalibration station,
- The quartermaster,
- A shooting range,
- The Dark Zone vendor
- and “more” that is probably not yet revealed.
Many of these stations are not available at the beginning and must be unlocked during the story. You will need to recruit certain people throughout the campaign, who will then become active in your base. Details are still unclear, only the purpose of the quartermaster has been revealed.
This is the purpose of the quartermaster: At the quartermaster, you can unlock your skills and perks. Unlike The Division 1, you no longer unlock these through different wings of the base, but directly at the quartermaster.

To do this, you need to collect SHD Tech, which is also known from the predecessor. You can unlock all skills in any order, but you will need both SHD Tech and skill points. However, for all perks, you must have recruited certain people in main and side missions before you can unlock them.
This is how you get SHD Tech: SHD Tech can be obtained in The Division 2 from main and side missions, but can also be found anywhere in the game world. How generous the game will be in this regard will likely only be known after release.
This is how you get skill points: At the moment, this is not entirely clear. Presumably, you can “buy” skill points with SHD Tech.
Do I also have to unlock everything in the beta first? No, in the Private Beta, the skills are available directly so that you can test everything.
Soon you will be able to take a look at the base yourself:
