The most famous Paladin from World of Warcraft has struck again. Rextroy has released a new video, and this time it’s about the battle between Alliance and Horde… more or less.
This is how the battle went: A new video from Rextroy shows a battle between 40 shamans and 40 paladins in one of the oldest and most famous battlefields of WoW, Alterac Valley. The two full raids clash and fight each other.
At the beginning, there is not much to see from the Paladins’ perspective except for a huge storm of chain lightning and a forest of totems. The whole encounter looks more like a light show of holy rays and elemental lightning.
For about 15 minutes, the two groups fought until the Alliance’s reinforcements (visible at the top of the screen under “Reinforcements”) ran out and the Horde won. Most of the battle took place in the “Zerg” in the middle of the map.
This is how the shamans won: As seen in the info screen at the end, most shamans killed significantly more paladins than vice versa. In Alterac Valley, both factions start with 700 reinforcements, which decrease through player deaths and other mechanics.
If the reinforcements drop to 0, the corresponding faction loses. However, the shamans apparently cheated a bit. As Rextroy writes under his video, there was an agreement that dead players would not release their spirits and rejoin the fight.
The paladins apparently took this agreement more seriously. More players on their side adhered to it, while the shamans eagerly released their spirits. Whether this was really the deciding factor cannot be said; it is merely an observation.
Who is Rextroy? In the WoW community, Rextroy is well known for consistently creating absurd or funny scenes:
- The raid boss Vectis in Uldir was killed by Rextroy in just 0.5 seconds
- The current final boss Jaina was taken down by Rextroy with a total of 16 tanks
- most recently, he punched 40 paladins into the strongest mob in WoW and took quite a beating
A preview of WoW Classic
This is why the video: Rextroy himself describes the battle as a “reboot of the class struggle from Classic.” By this, he probably means a video that circulated many years ago, showing how 40 shamans and 40 paladins met in the open field.
The recordings were particularly interesting back then because in Classic only the Horde could choose shamans, and paladins were exclusive to the Alliance.
WoW Classic will be relaunched in the summer of 2019 and is likely to be the biggest MMORPG release of the year. Rextroy’s battle is a nice preview of what may come.
