Apex Legends is an exceptionally popular game that even people who usually don’t like Battle Royale enjoy. Our author Jürgen has figured out the real reason why you love Apex Legends.
Where does the data come from? Under articles about Apex Legends, the new and popular Battle Royale shooter from the Titanfall creators Respawn Entertainment, it has often been said, “I don’t like Battle Royale games, but I have fun here!”
This seemed strange to me, and I wanted to know why you particularly enjoy Apex, while you tend to dismiss PUBG, Fortnite, and others. I created a survey and provided the following aspects:
- The different playable legends from Apex, a feature that no other game in the genre has managed to pull off well yet.
- The excellent gunplay that avoids annoying random factors.
- The comfort features like the ping system, which is now being copied by Fortnite.
- That the game is not for children as it is brutal, dark-humored, and clearly rated 18+.
To that, I added the fun argument “It’s a BR shooter without building!” as a little dig at Fortnite since only there do opponents first build a house when shot at.
I know from some colleagues and friends that this annoys them terribly, so I also included this somewhat tongue-in-cheek reason in the survey.
The main reason why Apex is so popular: It’s not Fortnite!
Here are the results of the survey: Over 1,300 participants voted in the survey, and the result was clear. With 423 votes, the reason “It’s a BR shooter without building!” won decisively.
Apparently, for many of you, Apex is already worth a look just because it’s not Fortnite, and building there annoys you just as much as it annoys me.
Indeed, building in Fortnite is an important feature that clearly separates good players from noobs. Those who prefer shooting and do not like to build or farm materials will rarely succeed in Fortnite.
Players who are good shooter players but don’t get along with building should find Apex to be the right game.
