The release date for WoW Classic is still a secret, yet many want to know when Vanilla WoW will launch. A crazy website now claims to know the date. This is probably the wildest theory circulating about the launch date of Classic.
What does this website say? On the page wowclassiccountdown.com, a countdown is currently running that ends on July 16. On that day, WoW Classic is supposed to be released, at least according to the theory of the site.
The website explains the date of July 16 with a convoluted theory that could come from a conspiracy theorist.
This is why WoW Classic is supposed to release in July
This is how the website explains its date: The creator of the website claims to have seen this date, July 16, during the Restoring History about WoW Classic at BlizzCon. That was a presentation at BlizzCon 2018.
There, an image of character creation was shown. In this image, two gnomes can be seen. One is a level 16 gnome named Osconty and another gnome named July. The website then combines this image into a crazy theory.
This is the theory about the date: Osconty is not only the name of the gnome in the image, but also the name of a guild that had a First Kill at Patchwerk on July 16, 2006.
From this, the website derives the date of the First Kill as well as the word “Patch” from Patchwerk.
Additionally, the second gnome is named July, which is the German word for July, and the gnome Osconty is at level 16. All these numbers then result in the date of July 16, 2019.
Would this date fit? Blizzard has only stated so far that WoW Classic will be released sometime in summer. No more specific indications have been given. So, looking only at this statement, July 16 would indeed fit. That would be a Tuesday.
Of course, the theory is still far-fetched. So many angles have been considered that it is hard to imagine this is actually a hidden hint at the release date of WoW Classic.
What do you think? Do you find this theory just crazy, or would you credit Blizzard with this hidden hint?
Have you heard of this crazy bet for an annual subscription?
