For a long time, the Twitch streamer Papaplatte has finally emptied his mailbox again, where his viewers can send him letters and packages. But this time, he experienced an unexpected surprise: instead of gifts, he received a package for which he even had to pay.
What kind of packages did the streamer receive? It is widely known that streamers receive gifts from viewers or partners. In one of his recent livestreams, Papaplatte opened several of these packages from his viewers, who sent him lovingly put together gifts.
Sweets, fan arts, headgear, and many other items were in the first packages that he joyfully unwrapped. But a specific package was about to take an unexpected turn for him. The sender: Lukas.
When Papaplatte opened the package from Lukas, a letter immediately fell out. In this letter was an initially friendly message: “Hi Papaplatte. I have a few things for you. First, a light box for your new room. You can switch the images in it. And I made a Minecraft resource pack with a friend. You can download it using the QR code and play Minecraft with it.”
At first, he rolled his eyes and mentioned possible risks but still grabbed the large piece of paper with the QR code. “Screw the risks, we have to check out what kind of texture pack this is,” commented the streamer.
He set the paper aside for the moment and focused on the rest of the contents of the package. He immediately tried out the “light box,” which had his logo on it and described it as “pretty nice.”

“Is this stupid, bro,” said the streamer
After Papaplatte had set the paper with the QR code aside, he finally turned to this unusual gift. He scanned the QR code with his phone – and was promptly confronted with a notification that shocked him: To activate the resource pack, he was supposed to pay $35 a month.
“Well, we’ll never find out. Such crap, guys,” he commented disappointedly and put the paper aside again.
However, his chat urged him to activate it despite the costs. Papaplatte expressed skepticism: “I’m not a pro, but can’t you make a QR code just for free?” But the viewers didn’t give up and continued to urge him to activate the QR code, even if it cost money.
Eventually, he gave in and decided to subscribe. “Is this stupid, bro. I’m now on a website from a QR code that was sent to me by a viewer, and I’m giving my credit card details. So we’ve never been so close to: ‘I’m getting scammed,’ ” he commented with a certain degree of irony.
Shortly thereafter, he confirmed that the $35 had been charged and the payment was successful. But the surprise didn’t take long to appear: when he scanned the QR code again, it led him to a YouTube video.
Within a fraction of a second, he looked bewildered as the iconic song “Never Gonna Give You Up,” also known as the “Rick Roll,” played in the background. After a few seconds of shock, Papaplatte switched off the video and commented: “This is outrageous, bro.”
Papaplatte has to ask his mother for help to cancel the subscription
When Papaplatte realized that he now had to pay monthly for the questionable subscription, his chat became active. His viewers urged him to cancel the subscription immediately.
But Papaplatte admitted that he didn’t know how to do that. “I didn’t get an email, I didn’t log in anywhere, I did it through ApplePay,” he explained perplexed. He added: “I guess I will have to pay $35 a month for the rest of my life.”
His chat then tried to explain to him how he could cancel the subscription. But the instructions overwhelmed Papaplatte. Eventually, he gave up and decided to ask his mother for help.
In a voice message to her, he asked for support: “Quick question. I just signed up for a subscription, for $35 a month, for such a QR code site. Can you somehow cancel it through our bank? Just so they can’t charge it anymore, or something like that. Thanks!”
