With Battlefield 2042 releasing on November 19, one of the most anticipated games of the year is here. As EA and DICE have now announced, impatient players can start playing a week earlier – and that for just €1. MeinMMO explains how this works.
What do I need? A week before the official release on November 19, Battlefield 2042 will begin its Early Access. This was previously only announced for people with an EA Play Pro subscription or for pre-order customers of the Gold and Ultimate Editions.
Now it’s clear: players with an active subscription to EA Play or Xbox Game Pass also have access. However, with an important limitation.
How does it work? With Early Access, you can play the full game a week before release as if you owned it. This includes access to all weapons, maps, and the modes All-Out Warfare, Hazard Zone, and Battlefield Portal.
However, this Early Access for EA Play and Xbox Game Pass members is limited to 10 hours of gameplay. After 10 hours of playtime, you need to purchase the game to continue playing. Your progress will not be lost, however.
Affordable Early Access with Xbox Game Pass
The special thing: If you have never subscribed to Game Pass before, your first month will only cost €1.
What do the subscriptions cost? The Xbox Game Pass is available in three versions:
- Game Pass Ultimate (€1 in the first month, then €12.99 monthly): Includes access to console and PC games, Xbox Live Gold, EA Play, and cloud gaming.
- Game Pass for PC (€1 in the first month, then €9.99 monthly): Includes access to PC games and EA Play
- Game Pass for Console (€9.99 monthly): Includes access to console games and EA Play
If you play on Sony consoles, only EA Play is available to you. It costs €3.99 monthly or €24.99 per year.

- Early Access Date: November 12, 2021, at 9 AM CET
- Preload: November 10, at 7 PM CET
- Preload (without Early Access): November 17
Early Access is the first opportunity since the controversial beta to play Battlefield 2042 again. Whether the game has been able to solve all the problems of the beta, and how well the new maps and modes like Battlefield Portal are received, we will find out at the latest then.
