World of Warcraft has big plans to improve gameplay for all players. Soon, players at max level will also be able to play with lower-level characters.
With the upcoming Patch 8.2.5, World of Warcraft aims to revamp player interaction. It will then be possible to complete quests again if friends have that quest. Additionally, players will be able to accompany friends into low-level dungeons, and their strength will be scaled down. We reveal what is already known.
What is the problem? For players of World of Warcraft, it is difficult to recruit new players. This is mainly because newcomers have to “struggle” through a long leveling phase before they can play with their friends. While friends can help, running through dungeons is not particularly exciting.
Blizzard has been looking for a way to allow players of different levels to play together while keeping the content engaging.
Party Sync brings players together: Blizzard is testing a new feature. Members in a group can activate “Party Sync” while playing together. This ensures that all group members are brought to the same state of quests.
This also means they are placed in the same phase (if a quest modifies the environment, for example). Additionally, one can see in the quest log what progress classmates have made and who can turn in their quest.
World of Warcraft already scales very extensively in many cases.
Replay feature for many quests: At the same time, developers are trying to create a feature that allows players to replay quests. If a friend completes a quest for level 20 and you have already reached level 80 and completed the quest long ago, you can complete it again together with the level 20 friend.
The quest then provides rewards that are relevant to the player’s actual level. This would allow players to help friends with quests while also gaining an advantage for themselves.
“Party Sync” reduces levels in dungeons: Party Sync also ensures that you can go with friends into a dungeon that is well below your own level. For example, you could accompany your leveling friend into the Deadmines, even though you have already reached level 120.
Your character’s level will then be scaled down so that the content remains exciting. However, the character also loses access to abilities that one simply wouldn’t have at the lower level (such as Azerite abilities).
If the features work as Blizzard envisions, it could be a small revolution for group play in World of Warcraft. Then further barriers that currently hinder players from playing together would fall.
