On September 28, New World is finally set to release. Until then, there will be no new game content, as Game Director Scot Lane revealed in an interview with MeinMMO. However, there are already new contents that have been confirmed for the post-release period or found through data mining. We summarize everything important for you.
What will happen with New World before release? Not much. According to Scot Lane, the coming weeks will be used to fix exploits and bugs, as well as improve server structures.
That’s exactly why New World is hosting an Open Beta from September 9 to September 13.
There will be no new content until the release. But New World is an MMO and will be continuously supplied with new content after its release. Some of this content has already been confirmed, while others have been found through data mining.
We will inform you about the status of new weapons, new areas, new dungeons, and generally new content. Between summer 2020 and the beta in summer 2021, New World has changed significantly. You can find all of this information here:
New character options, dungeons, and the next weapon
What new content has already been confirmed? In our interview, Scot Lane revealed that the developers have taken the feedback regarding the weak character creation into account. He promised new options, which, however, are planned for after the release.
He also promised a solution for the balance among the 3 factions that aims to create more fairness. However, the exact details remain open for now.
During gamescom 2021, Scot Lane also revealed that the newest weapon will be released shortly after the launch. Accompanying that weapon, images of a glove were shown:
This glove corresponds to the Void Gauntlet, which has already been found in data mining. It is said that the weapon will be released with 3 abilities per skill tree as before. These abilities mix damage and healing, provide some crowd control, and two of them are unblockable (via gyazo).
Moreover, additional group content in the form of expeditions is planned.
What about the shop? New World will be a Buy2Play MMO and aims to be financed long-term through a real-money shop. There, it will primarily offer cosmetic items.
However, in early 2021, there was a major uproar because Amazon announced XP boosts for the shop. These have been postponed for now, so they are not expected to be released before 2022.

Data mining and bugs reveal 8 more weapons, 6 new expeditions, and new PvE and PvP content
What else could come to New World? During the closed beta and also afterward, players were diligent and tried to find new and hidden content in New World.
For instance, players announced the Void Gauntlet several weeks ago. The accompanying data mining also found 8 more weapons:
- Pistols
- Daggers
- One-handed Maces
- Two-handed Maces
- Earth Staff
- Blunderbuss
- Two-handed Longsword
- Polearm
But it doesn’t stop there with the weapons. According to data mining, there are already hints about several new armor sets and 6 additional expeditions.
In the expeditions, so-called “Dungeon Mutations” have also been found. These are said to be adjustments to the dungeons that make them more challenging. However, it remains unclear whether this refers to adjustable hurdles, weekly events, or a completely different system.
A new area: For the area Brimstone Sands, there is actually no data mining, but real gameplay. Because players have managed to bug into the area by walking through water, which is actually not possible.
Brimstone Sands is a desert and thematically inspired by ancient Egypt. There are new materials, including Sandstone, which can be mined with a pickaxe, and various types of sand that will probably play a role in crafting.
The area also includes the entrance to the dungeon The Ennead, which was part of the data mining.
What new PvP content could there be? Also through data mining, a PvP Arena has been found. There, players should be able to fight against each other in small groups.
