There are ongoing discussions about the Azerite armor in World of Warcraft. Blizzard has now released plans on how the system will be improved.
Azerite armor should be easier to obtain: Community Manager Lore has outlined in the official WoW forums some changes to the Azerite system that are yet to come:
- It should be easier to obtain better armor pieces
- and the armor will generally be strengthened
The Azerite system is constantly being improved
The problem: One of the biggest problems with the Azerite system has been that Azerite armors are much harder to obtain at item level 370 than between levels 325 and 340. Blizzard has taken that feedback from the community.
Here’s how it is now: Currently, through Emissary quests, Azerite pieces with a maximum item level of 340 can be obtained, as the pieces cannot be warforged.
What will change: In the future, this limit is supposed to increase to up to 370 depending on the equipped item level. That’s at least the provisional solution.
The developers decided on Emissary quests as a new source, as this content is accessible to every player, not just those who play PvE or PvP content intensively.
More and better traits: The armors themselves should also become stronger. In the “BfA Season 2,” as the developers call it, Azerite pieces will receive a fifth ring in the outer segment.
Along with the new season come:
- the Siege of Zuldazar
- the new Mythic+ season
- and the new PvP season.
The most popular Azerite traits should be available on more items.
The traits themselves will also be revised. So that not the “easiest” traits remain the strongest, some of them will be adjusted, and new ones will be introduced. This should give all classes more opportunities to specialize.
Everything will be even stronger: After some criticism, Lore published a supplement to the new system. Along with the Siege of Zuldazar, all equipment obtained from all content should become stronger.
New Azerite items, such as those from Mythic+ dungeons, will already have 5 rings. However, old armor will not be retroactively strengthened.
As the average item level increases, the limit of item level 370 for Azerite armor from Emissary quests will also be raised. The obtained item level continues to scale with your character’s.
When will the changes come? The strengthened armor will only appear with the new raid Siege of Zuldazar in Patch 8.1.
Some of the other changes, such as the better Azerite pieces from Emissary quests, are “of higher priority” and will probably come soon.
You probably won’t have to wait much longer: Patch 8.1 is closer than you all think.
