In Hearthstone has a card just become the teacher for the players. Because this card is smarter than most players.
For a few days now, the latest expansion “Saviors of Uldum” has been live in Hearthstone. This has not only expanded Blizzard’s card game with 135 new cards, but also leads to all sorts of funny moments. Especially one card has captivated the players, where they like to admit: “The card is smarter than I am!”
It is of course about Zephrys the Great.
What does Zephrys the Great do? Zephrys offers solid stats of 3/2 for 2 mana and is an elemental with a powerful battle cry. If no card in the player’s deck is duplicated, Zephrys ensures that “you can wish for the perfect card.” In plain language, this means that Zephrys ensures that you receive the most optimal card that deals best with the problems on the battlefield. This can be a deadly fireball, but also a card that saves your life or turns supposed healing into deadly effects.
Zephrys surprises many players: In the Hearthstone subreddit, many players report that they are greatly impressed by Zephrys’ “thinking performance.” Most players already have a card in mind that they would like when they play Zephrys. When they then see what Zephrys offers them, they pause for a moment and wonder why Zephrys offers these specific cards. This usually leads to an “Oh, I understand!” moment, and players have to recognize that Zephrys has identified the significantly smarter move.

Particularly popular Zephrys cards: Since Zephrys can offer almost all current cards, many cards are being seen for the first time in a long time. But some highlights make the rounds that keep reappearing:
- If the opponent has Lord Jaraxxus, Zephrys almost always offers “Sacrifice Pact” – this allows the demon to be destroyed immediately.
- Classes with significant healing (Paladins, Druids, Priests) almost always receive an Auchenai Soulpriest, turning strong heals into damage spells.
- The Cabal Shadow Priest is offered when you can steal an important minion through mind control.
- At 6 health points of the opponent, there is (almost) always a fireball
