Thieves broke into a trading card shop and stole Pokémon cards. The police are investigating.
What kind of theft was it? In the U.S. city of Burbank (in Los Angeles County, California), a group of three masked individuals broke into a trading card shop on December 2, 2025.
The shop sells boosters for various trading card games such as Pokémon TCG, One Piece, Disney Lorcana, and Magic: The Gathering.
Thieves specifically steal Pokémon cards
What was stolen? According to American news sites, the thieves are said to have stolen Pokémon and sports cards worth about $100,000 (around €86,000) (via KTLA5).
The store owner describes: “For the most part, they targeted Pokémon cards. Accidentally, they also took some cash boxes from the back that contained [rare] sports cards.”
Furthermore, the owner believes that the thieves knew exactly what they were after. Especially Pokémon cards can be sold well these days, he explains.
Cameras record the theft
What is known about the thieves: A video shared by the owner on social networks like TikTok shows various perspectives from installed surveillance cameras. It shows how the three burglars first gained access to the store by breaking the front door and then proceeding to rummage through the store.
The store owner is now working with local police to locate the thieves. The authorities have not yet commented on the theft to American news outlets.
