Overwatch fans can expect to get some really cool skins inspired by WoW characters soon. But Tyrande and Illidan won’t come cheap.
At BlizzCon 2019, there will certainly be plenty of new announcements, but for many players, the virtual ticket is a highlight not just because of the expo, but also because of all the goodies. As usual, players of all Blizzard games will receive some bonus items if they choose to purchase a ticket. Especially Overwatch fans might have rubbed their eyes in disbelief.
WoW skins of Tyrande and Illidan in Overwatch: The two skins are for the heroes Genji and Symmetra.
Genji is apparently fed up with life as a cyborg ninja and instead takes on the task of defeating creatures of the Burning Legion, as he transforms into the demon hunter Illidan Stormrage. With an eyepatch, demonic fel-corrupted tattoos, and the signature horns, Genji will soon be leaping through the maps.
Symmetra turns away from hard light in favor of the gentle glow of the moon goddess. As the high priestess of Elune, Tyrande Whisperwind, she will be found in Overwatch from now on. Her clothing resembles the typical moon fabric robes of the priestesses and shows – also not uncommon for night elves – a bit more purple skin.
How do you get the skins? To unlock the skins, you must own a Virtual Ticket for BlizzCon. This costs in 2019 again a proud 40€ in the Blizzard shop, which is quite a hefty price if you were to get the ticket “only” for the two skins. So the offer is probably only worth it for those who want to follow BlizzCon live anyway.
By the way, the skins are not yet available in Overwatch. They will come with a future patch that is supposed to be implemented before BlizzCon, that is, before November 1st.
Fans are divided: Looking at the comments on Reddit, however, the fans are not only excited. Most players praise the fact that the skins look extremely good and are very detailed. Blizzard has outdone itself in creating extremely cool renditions of Tyrande and Illidan.

But there is also some criticism. Both characters no longer look at all like Symmetra and Genji, which could lead to confusion at first glance. Especially Genji’s silhouette has drastically changed as Illidan and may not fit as well.
What do you think of these two “WoW-Overwatch-skins”? Are they a clear reason for you to buy the BlizzCon ticket? Or would you have done so anyway and the skins are just a nice bonus?
