The Opening Night Live of the gamescom 2024 had several major announcements in the program this year. However, we won’t be discussing those, but rather the many small highlights that we believe are talked about far too little.
For example, there is the super cute trailer for Floatopia. If you love Animal Crossing but don’t own a Nintendo Switch, this game might be just right for you. There isn’t much of a bombastic experience here, which is probably one reason why it somehow got overshadowed by the cinematic gameplay trailer of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 or the hype-inducing teaser for Borderlands 4.

Perhaps the trailer for Goat Simulator Remastered hasn’t completely vanished, but can we please talk about how well-made it is?! Have you ever considered why the carriage from Skyrim appeared twice in the trailer? It could be pure coincidence, or a deliberate reference. The game was released again with both the Special Edition and the Anniversary Edition. If that isn’t attention to detail…
And then there is Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, the new game from the creators of Life is Strange. It is now known that Don’t Nod can write emotional stories with characters for whom our hearts bleed. It is all the more regrettable that it has flown under the radar for many people.
