With the JBL Quantum TWS, JBL has a set of gaming headphones in its lineup. MeinMMO editor Benedikt Schlotmann has tested the in-ears and explains why they are a real insider tip for him.
The most important points at a glance:
- The JBL Quantum TWS are gaming headphones with low latency.
- They offer broad compatibility with various devices and are referred to as ‘in-ear e-sport gaming headphones’.
- The editor’s test shows that the headphones are comfortable to wear, have good sound quality, and offer effective noise cancelling.
- However, the battery life could be longer and the built-in microphone is dull.
- As an alternative, the EPOS GTW 270 with aptX, better build quality, and more secure fit in the ears are recommended.
JBL offers the Quantum TWS in-ear headphones with low latency and high battery life. The manufacturer refers to its product as “in-ear e-sport gaming headphones”. With Bluetooth and a wireless dongle, the headphones also provide broad compatibility with a variety of devices.
In a test, I wanted to find out how well the JBL Quantum TWS perform in everyday life and was able to try out the model for several weeks. But can the complete package really convince me?
Who tested it?
I personally own over 20 gaming mice and have tested over 15 keyboards. I also now have over 10 sets of in-ear headphones. At MeinMMO, I have been testing hardware for our readers since 2019. In addition to the PC and PS5, I am also currently using the Steam Deck.
The JBL Quantum TWS were provided to me by the manufacturer for testing. There were no technical issues during the testing period.

- Quick guide
Design and Build: The in-ear headphones from JBL are very simple at first glance and come in plain black. The in-ears themselves feature a slightly shiny look with the JBL logo, while the case itself is understated and only features a large logo of the manufacturer and is about the size of a fist, making it easy to fit into any jacket or pants pocket.
The charging case with headphones weighs around 50 grams, about half the weight of a standard bar of chocolate.

It is excellent that the dongle can be stored in the charging case of the in-ears. This way, I don’t lose the small item when traveling or on the go. It is actually a rarity for in-ears to have such convenient storage for the dongle.
Build Quality
JBL uses a lot of plastic in its in-ears. The hinge of the charging case lid is also made of plastic, and I did not notice any signs of wear during my testing period.
Metal, aluminum, or other premium materials are not present, but that is rather unusual in the price range around 100 euros.
Software
App and Interface: For the in-ears, the “JBL Headphones” app is used. Upon starting the app, there is a very quick succession of images that cannot be skipped.
I would advise epileptics or people who are very sensitive to rapid movements and stimuli to avoid using the app or at least to turn the phone away until the startup screen has finished.
The software itself offers numerous functions and is somewhat overwhelming at the beginning. Otherwise, the app is well structured. Important functions are clearly labeled and can be quickly activated or switched. The app runs smoothly on my phone. I had no problems.

On the next page, you will read about my experiences regarding comfort, sound quality, and battery life. In the conclusion, I explain what strengths and weaknesses you can expect with the in-ears.
