Pokémon GO now reveals details about the PvP mode (Trainer Battles). We tell you what to look forward to.
The PvP mode in Pokémon GO is set to provide a completely new battle experience. Pokémon will receive a second charged attack for this battle mode. Additionally, they can deploy a defense shield that blocks the charged attack from the other Pokémon.
We will show you what to expect in the new PvP mode.
This is what PvP brings to Pokémon GO
In this new battle mode, players are expected to play together even more after the introduction of raids and the friends feature, and finally challenge each other. This is Niantic’s goal behind the new feature.
How many Pokémon can be sent into battle? In battles, you can challenge opponents with a total of three Pokémon. This is different from the usual six Pokémon that make up a battle team.
Can you also play against NPCs? You can challenge not only your friends but also the team leaders of Team Instinct, Wisdom, and Valor. This allows you to finally fight against NPCs.

Are there changes to the attacks? To make a player’s team more variable, Pokémon can now learn a second charged attack. This can be effectively used in PvP battles.
Can Pokémon defend themselves? Yes, through the defense shield, a Pokémon can absorb charged attacks from other Pokémon and thus survive longer in battle.
How can I fight against each other? To challenge your opponent, there is a new code system in Pokémon GO. By scanning your opponent’s battle code, you can challenge them.
Can you also fight from a distance? If you are already a Hyperfriend or higher with your opponent, you can challenge them in remote battles. Otherwise, you must be near your opponent.
Three battle leagues: A few days ago, Pokémon GO announced on Twitter that there are three different leagues where you can compete against each other. The leagues are set to a CP limit.
Both players receive a reward: To ensure that both players are rewarded in their battle, even the loser of the battle receives a reward.
Sinnoh Stone as a reward: Among other things, you will receive the Sinnoh Stone as a reward from battles. This was no longer guaranteed in the research breakthroughs.
When will the mode be released? Niantic mentioned in their announcement this month. When exactly the mode will be released is not known. However, you will still be able to battle each other this year.
