What kind of game is this? Guild Wars 2 is an MMORPG from the American developer ArenaNet that primarily focuses on casual players. You have the choice of 9 different classes with which you can explore the game world and follow a classic hero story.
You fight the Elder Dragons, huge and powerful creatures that devour the magic of the world in an irregular cycle before falling back asleep. The consumption occurs during your time, and you attempt to prevent it by killing the dragons. But this triggers new problems with the magic.
What is special about GW2 is the constantly fixed level. Since release, you can only reach level 80. Additionally, the equipment level has not been increased since 2012. What you earned back then is still current and useful today.
The MMORPG regularly brings new story content, areas, new stat combinations, and especially visual rewards. Anyone starting Guild Wars 2 now has a huge amount of content, including:

What happens in 2022? In February, the new expansion End of Dragons will be released, although there is still no fixed release date. In End of Dragons, you will travel to the continent of Cantha, which veterans already know from Guild Wars Factions.
There you will encounter an Asian-influenced world where you can explore 5 new areas and experience a new story. Highlights of the expansion also include fishing, sailing, and new elite specializations that give each class new abilities and a new weapon.
Additionally, you can expect:
- new legendary weapons
- hardcore boss fights in instances
- the first 2-player mount: the siege turtle
- a new guild hall

For whom is this interesting? The new expansion is primarily aimed at veterans, as the content begins only at max level, and the new class content is also intended for endgame players. You can expect new areas and an interesting new story that continues to be connected to the Elder Dragons.
However, newcomers and returnees can use the release to start with the MMORPG. Especially fans of Guild Wars 1 should give the game another chance, after all, it’s going into the most iconic areas from the predecessor.
The base game is now completely free, and anyone who purchases the new expansion Path of Fire will receive the first expansion HoT as well. For 30 euros, you currently get a lot of content.
