My favorite game in 2018 was Far Cry 5. The cult really turned me into a wild boar. The brutality with which the “Peggies” oppress, mutilate, brainwash, and execute people in Hope Valley has ignited a burning anger in me. Rarely has a game emotionally affected me so intensely.

In 2018, I continued to play Final Fantasy XIV. The slow year between two expansions was very relaxing for me, and I could play at my own pace. The Ultima raid was extremely cool, and the progression was a lot of fun, even though I haven’t managed to successfully complete the fight yet. But most of the Omega raids were also visually stunning and well-designed in terms of mechanics.

My favorite in 2018 was wandering through Monster Hunter World. I can completely lose myself wandering through the dreamy coral highlands. When the fluffy Paolumu floats through the rising winds to enjoy a few coral eggs, the world just feels perfect. By the end of the year, I spent more time in Warframe. In the Fortuna expansion, there is still plenty to do!

In 2018, my favorite was Elite Dangerous. The game has improved significantly with the help of several major updates compared to the beginning of the year, especially the exploration update of Chapter 4 has really impressed me. Since then, it’s even displaced Destiny 2 from the throne. Currently, there is nothing cooler for me than exploring the unknown vastness of the galaxy and transporting VIPs in my huge Beluga liner from one interstellar sight to the next – and all for millions of credits.
