In Destiny 2, the “Dad Loadout” is currently a hot topic. It includes weapons that are relatively easy to get and can be used in all sorts of activities. We present you the Dad Loadout and show you whether you might be a Dad yourself without even knowing it.
What kind of weapons are these? In Destiny 2, there are plenty of weapons for every taste. Whether the Guardians prefer to chase the current meta or want to grab all kinds of top weapons.
Besides that, there are also guns that are easy to obtain and perform well in all activities of the game. The community has already coined a name for these weapons and refers to them as the “Dad Loadout”. Three criteria are essential for this:
- Can you easily get these weapons, even with good perks?
- Can you keep up in competitive modes?
- Are the weapons easy to use in all possible activities?
Weapons that meet one or more of these criteria automatically fall into the category “Dad Loadout”. In Destiny 2, there are currently a handful of weapons that can be classified as “Dad weapons”.
What kind of loadout is this? In the primary slot, there are some pulse rifles that are Dad weapons. Pulse rifles have always been strong, usually have good range, and forgive body shots that were actually intended as headshots due to their burst fire.
The legendary pulse rifles that scream Dad the most are the Last Breath and the Monarchy. Anyone who has played Gambit even a little since Forsaken probably already has one or two Last Breaths in their inventory. If you’ve reset Gambit a few times, the Drifter even gives you one with a fantastic roll.
The Monarchy is also relatively easy to obtain. You need to forge a pulse rifle frame in the Izanami Forge. With a bit of luck, the frame drops the Monarchy. Good rolls for the weapon are:
- Kill Clip
- Rampage
- Stable Rounds
- Feeding Frenzy
However, the absolute highlight of the “Dad Loadout” is the legendary fusion rifle Erentil FR4. This weapon can be easily farmed with great rolls through the Menagerie. You should watch out for these perks:
- Outlaw
- Projected Vortex
- Accumulator Rounds
- Under Pressure
With the Erentil, range, stability, and bonus damage are the keys to success.
Another good fusion rifle is the Jötunn, which has been causing havoc in the Crucible and Gambit since its introduction in Season 5. We’ve explained how to get the Jötunn here for you.
Destiny Dads usually use easily obtainable and user-friendly exotics like the Wardcliff Coil or the also popular Tractor Cannon in PvE. Alternatively, machine guns, like the Hammerhead, which also receive enough ammo in PvP to clean up.
Where does the term “Dad Loadout” come from? The “Dad Loadout” originates from a joke in the Destiny community and refers to Guardians who have little time for the game or only check in for a few hours at the end of the day.
They may not use the best weapons available in Bungie’s shooter, but the ones they can handle well or the ones that are just good enough.
However, Dad Loadouts have now become fully accepted among the “Destiny Society” and many Guardians admit that they also use these weapons because they are easy to obtain and can still compete with meta or top weapons.
