What bonus does the event bring? During the Adventure Week you only have to cover a quarter of the distance with your buddy for it to find a candy.
It is worth it, which raises the question of which buddy to choose. We will give you some Pokémon to choose from.
How many kilometers do you have to walk? There are a total of 4 different stages of buddy Pokémon. Each stage is significantly reduced. You need to walk the following distances:
- Instead of 1 kilometer, only 250 meters
- Instead of 3 kilometers, only 750 meters
- Instead of 5 kilometers, only 1.25 kilometers
- Instead of 20 kilometers, only 5 kilometers
The best buddy Pokémon
Kaumalat Family: Kaumalat and its evolutions are probably the best Pokémon you can have as a buddy. Kaumalat is currently extremely rare, making every additional candy worthwhile.
Additionally, the final evolution Knakrack is one of the best Pokémon in the game. So, it’s worth having enough candies to power up one to max level.
Koknodon Family: Besides Kaumalat, Koknodon is currently the Pokémon of the hour. It has also only been in the game since Generation 4 and only a few players have enough candies for Koknodon.
Moreover, the evolution Rameidon is the best rock-type Pokémon in the game. It’s definitely beneficial if you have several Rameidon at max level.
Riolu: The baby Pokémon of Lucario is especially a good choice if you haven’t evolved it yet and need the candies. Riolu is extremely rare in eggs, which is why many lack the necessary candies.
If you already have Lucario, then Riolu is not particularly recommended as a buddy because Lucario is not among the strongest Pokémon in the game. The exception is in PvP, where Lucario is a good alternative.
Legendary Pokémon: Normally, you have to walk 20 kilometers with a legendary Pokémon for just one candy. However, during the event, it’s only 5 kilometers. Therefore, it’s worthwhile to focus on the legendaries.
We will give you a selection of legendary Pokémon that we consider to be the most useful:
- Rayquaza
- Giratina (Origin Form)
- Kyogre
- Groudon
- Mewtwo
- Raikou
Meltan: For all players who haven’t been able to open a mystery box yet, Meltan may also be interesting. After all, it takes 400 candies to evolve, which means walking many kilometers.
Normally, you also have to walk 20 kilometers with Meltan, but thanks to the event, it’s only 5 kilometers.
Pokémon for Beginners: If you’ve just started with Pokémon GO, you can also opt for Pokémon that are very useful in the game and should not be missing from any battle team. However, use these buddies only if you don’t already have enough candies and specimens:
- Larvitar
- Machop
- Chansey
- Tanhel
1-km Buddies: Pokémon like Pidgey, Hornliu, or Pikachu only need 250 meters during the event for a candy. It’s worth it since there are quests where you need to collect buddy candies.
There are also current field research where you can encounter a Bummelz for 5 buddy candies. A good Bummelz for the Community Day is definitely useful.
Additionally, data miner Chrales already leaked possible quests for the event. You are supposed to earn candies with your buddy there as well. It would be highly beneficial to have a buddy that quickly earns candies.
