Star Citizen
Genre: MMORPG | Developer: Cloud Imperium Games | Platform: PC | Release Date: Unknown| Model: Not yet known | Website: Website of Star Citizen
Which engine is being used? Star Citizen began development with CryEngine but then switched to Amazon’s Lumberyard engine, leading to a lawsuit from Crytek.
What graphic style does the MMORPG use? Realism is the focus. Players should feel as though they are in the future. Everything has to look as detailed as possible.
What do the characters look like? For the single-player campaign Squadron 42, the developers scanned the faces of well-known actors such as Gillian Anderson and Mark Hamill. Accordingly, the characters appear almost photorealistic.
You can also play a custom hero. However, the character editor works a bit differently than that of regular MMORPGs. Rather than determining your appearance, you define that of your parents, and your character is created from that.
What can we expect visually from the monsters? In the universe of Star Citizen, there are plenty of aliens. However, these have hardly been shown so far. Nonetheless, we can expect creatures to be as detailed as the human characters.
Especially with regards to expression and movements, the developers want to offer something impressive, which should astound the players.
How appealing is the game world: Star Citizen takes place in space, on space stations, and spaceships, as well as on planets. You can expect landscapes and locations brimming with detail. As the previous videos illustrate, we can expect beautiful graphics.
The worlds are procedurally generated; however, the developers craft unique locations by hand, which must then visually impress. Already, the planets and stations invite exploration.
When will the MMORPG be released? There is still no release date, and it seems we shouldn’t expect a release in 2021 either. Chris Roberts, head of the development studio, has stated that it will definitely be released.
