The Black Temple
- Expansion: The Burning Crusade
- Number of Players: 25
- Number of Bosses: 9
The Black Temple was one of the highlights of The Burning Crusade, not only because it finally took on the traitor Illidan. The design of the tier sets in the Black Temple is still considered magnificent – so much so that the sets were revised again in the Tomb of Sargeras. But the bosses felt exciting and oppressive without exception.
Whether you fought against the “first death knight” who inevitably kills one player after another, against the Reliquary of Souls, or stood up against the gigantic fel beast Supremus – each boss fight was significant and a heavy piece of work. The final fight against Illidan is still regarded as a prime example of a successful boss fight – even if it was also one of the longest fights with just under fifteen minutes.
The coolest boss fight: Mother Shahraz
No matter how questionable Illidan’s harem may be for his demon hunters, standing in the hundreds of succubi and concubines for the first time and then facing the Mother was a great experience. Great spells like “Love Triangle” made the fight a lot of fun. Especially her more than ambiguous comments are still ingrained in memory after years.
“I’m all… yours.”
