Once you reach the endgame in The Division 2, you unlock the 3 specializations. We present them to you and also want to know in our survey which one you play in the beta.
These are the specializations: There are a total of three different specializations in The Division 2:
- Demolitionist
- Survivor
- Sniper
They come with different weapons and skill mods that fit the respective specialization. Each has its own signature weapon:
- The Demolitionist gets a grenade launcher
- The Survivor has a precision crossbow
- And the Sniper has a heavy caliber .50 sniper rifle
This is what you need to do to unlock the specializations.
Three Weapons for Different Player Types
This is how the signature weapons work: If you played The Division 1, you probably remember the Ultis or Signature Skills, where you could choose from three different ones.
If not: These were particularly powerful skills with a longer cooldown. To unlock them in the first part, you had to upgrade the wings of the operations base.
These Ultis are no longer there; instead, there are now the signature weapons of the specializations. Each one differs significantly from the others.
- With the grenade launcher, you can effectively control crowds of enemies and rain explosions on foes
- The crossbow uses explosive bolts that stick to enemies, detonate after a short time, and deal massive damage
- The sniper rifle has extreme penetrating power, capable of piercing through cover. Additionally, enemies in cover are highlighted.
What all these weapons have in common: ammunition is scarce. The signature weapons have their own type of ammunition, which is rather rare. Therefore, you must plan carefully and ensure that you do not waste it unnecessarily.
How do I get the ammunition? Typically, it is dropped by tougher enemies. In the PvP modes, it will appear on the map after a while.
In addition to the signature weapons, there are special skill mods that you can unlock as you progress through the levels of the specializations.
The Skills of the Specializations
Depending on the specialization, there are other skill categories that match your choice. The exact progression is not known at this time. However, some of the mods are already known and can be unlocked exclusively for the respective specialization:
These are the known skill mods of the Sniper:
- Drone – Tactician: With this mod, the drone flies at the highest possible point above you and acts as a kind of tactical scanner. It shows you the locations of enemies while it is active.
These are the known skill mods of the Survivor:
- Seeker Mine – Mender: This can distribute repair clouds. They can restore your armor. If you do not select a specific target for them, the mine will automatically find the team member with the lowest armor.
These are the known skill mods of the Demolitionist:
- Turret – Artillery: This type of turret fires an explosive shot at a location of your choice. Similar to a grenade launcher, you can only fire a single shot at a time, and the projectiles cover a small area.
Whether there will be more of these skill mods is currently unknown.
We have summarized what is currently known about the skills and mods that will be in The Division 2.
How do I unlock the specializations? In the actual game, the specializations are unlocked at level 30. You can freely switch between them. Each specialization can be leveled up and unlock new benefits.
However, in the Private Beta of The Division 2, you already have the first opportunity to test the specialization yourself.
Which specialization are you playing in the beta?
This is how you play the specializations in the Private Beta: In the beta, you start with a new character. After completing the “Jefferson Trade Center” mission, a new mission will be unlocked for you on February 8th at 5 PM: “Welcome to the Endgame”. Once you complete this, you will gain access to the 3 specializations.
You can then test each of the specializations in action, including the signature weapons. Therefore, we would like to know, in line with the beta release, which of the three specializations you will play?
The Sniper, who prefers to stay at a distance, the Demolitionist, who rains explosions on his enemies, or perhaps the Survivor, who can be devastating against individual enemies with his crossbow?
