The Tractor Cannon – More than just a Shotgun

What is the Tractor Cannon? Even though it theoretically counts as a shotgun, the Tractor Cannon is a very special weapon. It is used in the power slot and deals Void damage.
What makes this curious weapon special? At close range, the Tractor Cannon, like a shotgun, deals enormous damage. But the weapon can do much more.
The Tractor Cannon has a physical impulse that pushes enemies away from you. Additionally, every target hit suffers an additional debuff. The effect makes the enemies more vulnerable to all incoming damage (33% against Arc, Solar, and Kinetic as well as 50% against Void) and suppresses their abilities.
Although the effect can no longer stack with other debuffs (e.g., Titan’s Hammer Strike), it can still be combined with other buffs (like the IKELOS shotgun) to further increase damage.
How do you get the Tractor Cannon? You acquire this weapon as a random drop from all sources that drop exotic engrams and sometimes the Agent of the Nine, Xur, has this weapon as well.
How do you obtain the exotic catalyst, and what does the masterwork version do?
- Source: Drops randomly from any humanity enemies
- Upgrade effect: Magazine +70, “Deeper Pockets”: increased ammunition reserves
What is this exotic weapon best suited for? Whether in raids, heroic events, in Escalation Protocol, or in Nightfall – the weapon comes with its debuff almost everywhere in common strategies when it comes to beaming bosses into the virtual afterlife as quickly as possible. It’s also very helpful against elite enemies. Upgrading to masterwork further increases the weapon’s effectiveness.
In the right hands, this weapon can also achieve great things in the Crucible. With a bit of practice, you can eliminate opponents in close combat, strategically push them off the map, and even interrupt their Supers. Especially Sentinel Titans become nearly invulnerable in their protective bubble.
Do you miss the Gjallarhorn? With the following weapon, you come closest to the legendary rocket launcher from Destiny 1.
