Fortnite: Battle Royale now has hundreds of skins and outfits. However, while some appear repeatedly in the shop, others have hardly appeared and are therefore rare. Here you see the 10 rarest skins (including the rarest skin) with images.
This is how we selected: In our list of the rarest skins from Fortnite, we focused only on skins from the shop. Because each skin from a past Battle Pass is unique and no longer available once the respective season ends. Thus, it would be clear that the last skin from the Season 1 shop is the rarest.
To ensure more variety, we only show skins from the shop. We have also omitted recurring “event skins” such as the Halloween-themed skins, Oktoberfest, Christmas, or Chinese New Year.
These skins seem to return to the shop every year and lose their rarity at the latest upon their second appearance.
The 10 rarest skins from the Fortnite item shop
We have listed the following skins in the order they last appeared. We start with the “youngest” skin and work our way to the oldest and therefore rarest skin.
These are the real “OG” skins that only true Fortnite veterans have, as they have not been in the shop for a long time. For the release dates, we primarily referred to the database of the ProGameGuides site.
How can you get the skins? The skins presented here may eventually be available again in the shop. Otherwise, there is no legal way to obtain them.
Rank 10 – Bandolier
What kind of skin is this? Bandolier is an epic skin that shows a dark-skinned guy with a bare chest, headband, sunglasses, and bandolier. The latter is also the meaning of his name. He looks like a typical action hero from the 80s.
When was he last available? Bandolier was originally introduced during Season 4 on May 27, 2018. His last appearance was on December 12, 2018.
Rank 9 – Sky Stalker
What kind of skin is this? This is a legendary skin. The Sky Stalker looks a bit like a character from Team Fortress. He wears a gas mask and a trench coat, which gives him a cool retro military look.
When was he last available? This cool skin first came out during Season 4 on June 22, 2018. However, his last appearance in the shop was on December 7, 2018.
Rank 8 – Moisty Merman
What kind of skin is this? This legendary skin is tied to an area that no longer exists: Moisty Mire, the boring swamp that was found in the southeast before Season 5. Moisty Merman is a type of swamp monster costume that likely relates to the filming of the movies that were the theme of Season 4.
When was he last available? Moisty Merman was introduced on May 24, 2018, and was last seen on December 5, 2018.
Rank 7 – Far Out Man
What kind of skin is this? This epic skin is quite a curiosity. Because you play as a quirky hippie with long hair and colorful clothes adorned with psychedelic patterns. The hippie does not fit at all with the wild action of a Battle Royale, and that makes him so cool.
When was he last available? The hippie came to the shop on September 2, 2018. There was a return on November 27, 2018.
Rank 6 – Diecast
What kind of skin is this? This is a rare skin that depicts a steel android. He belongs to the minions of the villain Omega from Season 4.
When was he last available? Diecast was introduced to the shop on May 11, 2018. He was last seen on November 20, 2018.
Rank 5 – Funk Ops
What kind of skin is this? This cool epic skin is a real classic! It depicts a dark-skinned man with a glitter shirt and afro, who seems to have come straight from a disco in the 70s.
When was he last available? Funk Ops has been around for a long time. His first appearance was on December 31, 2017. However, you could still buy him on November 8, 2018.
Rank 4 – Bunnymoon
What kind of skin is this? No one really knows what this skin is supposed to be. It’s a bizarre mix of various costumes, including a bunny mask and Christmas lights. Bunnymoon is an unusual skin.
When was he last available? Bunnymoon first appeared in the shop on October 27, 2018. There was a brief return on November 1, 2018.
Rank 3 – Midnight Ops
What kind of skin is this? This rare skin depicts a cool cyborg warrior. He has a sort of mohawk hairstyle and a mechanical arm.
When was he last available? The first appearance of Midnight Ops was on March 30, 2018. However, he was last available on October 24, 2018.
Rank 2 – Ghoul Trooper
What kind of skin is this? This epic skin is part of a holiday set but was not part of the last Halloween event. Therefore, the skin is really super rare now. Ghoul Trooper is essentially just a Ramirez wearing zombie makeup.
When was he last available? In fact, the Ghoul Trooper could only be bought once, namely in Fall 2017. It first appeared on October 26, 2017, and its last appearance was on November 28, 2017. Since then it has never appeared in the shop again. So if Epic brings back the Ghoul Trooper for Halloween 2019, it would be a little sensation.
Rank 1 – Recon Expert – The rarest skin
What kind of skin is this? This rare skin is nothing special. It simply shows a dark-skinned woman with a hat and gray clothes.
When was he last available? This skin is extremely rare because it was last available almost 2 years ago, on November 12, 2017. The first appearance was a bit earlier, on October 30, 2017. Thus, the Recon Expert is the rarest skin that could still be regularly available in the shop.
