The Division 2 has become much more diverse since the last update, but assault rifles remain one of the most popular weapon classes. We present you the best high-end models and show which special versions are in demand.
What has Title Update 6 done to the equipment items? In The Division 2, the recently released Title Update 6 has caused a major overhaul, and hardly any weapon, talent, or mechanic has escaped the cleanup.
The developers’ goal was to make more equipment items or talents more useful for strong builds. The same applies to the weapons, so the direct damage output within the weapon classes is getting closer together.
Assault Rifles are strong and versatile
Why do many agents use ARs? Assault rifles (ARs) represent the typical average in many shooters. Damage, range, fire rate, reload speed – all usually not extraordinary and therefore particularly appealing.
In Division 2, assault rifles are very popular and widespread, but which weapons should you take a look at now and how are they best obtained?
DPS with the FAMAS at the highest
Which is now the strongest high-end AR? Although the “FAMAS” did not receive a damage buff with TU6, unlike many other AR models, the weapon can rank at the top of the damage output table.
The weapon is known for its high fire rate and received a mod slot for the magazine with TU6. Equipped with additional rounds, the saved reload speed brings the “FAMAS” to a new level.
Distributed damage gets closer together
How do the assault rifles compare? The damage values mentioned here were mathematically created and thus based on the best possible conditions for sustained fire. Additionally, the magazine size was maximized through mods, and the talent “Allegro” (increases fire rate) is set.
| Rank | Weapon | Damage | DPS |
| 1 | FAMAS 2010 | 12,173 | 113,335 |
| 2 | AK-M | 16,327 | 111,602 |

An old acquaintance is also up there
Also back in the fray is the custom version of the P416. The rapid-fire assault rifle was extremely popular even before the update and was the benchmark in the high-end range of assault rifles. It ranks third.
But at the top are two weapons that could hardly be different in gameplay. On one side is the rapid-fire FAMAS with one of the lowest base damage values in the first place, while on the other is an AK version with high weapon damage, but a significantly lower fire rate in second place.
Does this apply to all assault rifles in my inventory? Since the base damage of the weapons is determined by the roll, a random value, it may well be that the dusty FAMAS in your crates are not necessarily better than your worn high-roll P416 Custom.
What assault rifles come on top? Some weapons have a special version, i.e., an exotic or named variant. These not only offer a special appearance but also come with strong talents and can inflict a lot of damage beyond the normal base damage.
Eagle Bearer still incredibly strong
At the moment, two weapons are competing for the throne: On one hand, we have the, despite nerf, still very strong Eagle Bearer assault rifle. The exotic firearm comes with a hard-hitting sustained fire talent and strengthens the magazine until the last shot.
Attack of the Eagle
- Sustained fire increases values until the last round in the magazine, up to a maximum of:
- +100% Precision
- +100% Reload Speed
- +50% / +30% Damage (PvE / PvP)
Fire Devil could also beat the Eagle Bearer
This weapon competes with the exotic: But there is a new sheriff in town. In recent days, the named assault rifle “Fire Devil” has burned into the gun-loving hearts of agents.
“Named items” come with perfect versions of normal high-end talents, and the named version of an “M4 Police Version” also comes with a relentless damage talent:

Perfectly ignited
- burning enemies receive +40% weapon damage
- after two kills, the next enemy is set on fire
With these perks, not only are burning enemies easily taken down, but the weapon can also ignite fires on its own. This is incredibly strong even without extra fire damage in the build.
With a good “Fire Devil” in your backpack, you can even make proud Eagle Bearer owners a little envious.
Special versions not so easy to obtain
How do I get the weapons? The normal FAMAS is usually found quickly, perhaps already in your crate. With the two special versions, it is a bit more difficult. To obtain the named “Fire Devil”, a bit of luck is needed, let alone the raid drop “Eagle Bearer”.
These are the sources:
- High-End FAMAS and Fire Devil
- Targeted loot: Assault rifle area
- Eagle Bearer
- Raid on normal difficulty
With the new Targeted Loot System, you can now go directly hunting for assault rifles. However, the “Fire Devil” only drops in the “Light Zone”, so days when the “Dark Zones” offer more assault rifles are out of the question.
If invasion missions offer assault rifles, you should definitely check them out. In these missions, there are sometimes guaranteed drops of “Named Items”.
What do you think of the new Fire Devil tool, or do you have other OP weapons on your radar?
