As of March 2022, eight new MMORPGs have already been released in the West. We at MeinMMO reveal what makes these online role-playing games special, who they are interesting for, and how they are currently doing.
What MMORPGs are there? In this list, you will find games that were released in 2022. However, they must have had a full release or an Early Access release. Titles in Alpha or Beta have not been included.

Chimeraland

What kind of game is this? Chimeraland is a new sandbox MMORPG where you can take on the role of humans as well as various animal beings. Chimeraland does without classes, instead allowing you to define your playstyle through your equipment.
- There is an open game world with 4 continents without loading screens, which visually resembles Genshin Impact
- There are collecting and crafting systems through which you can actively level up, just like in New World
- You can build your own house anywhere in the open world
- You can tame your animal companions and pets in the open world
- You can sprint with Shift and jump with the Spacebar
- There are various PvE and PvP content in the endgame
- There is a real money shop with cosmetic content, XP buffs, chests with materials, and automatic completions of daily quests, as well as an additional purchasable Battle Pass
So far, the MMORPG has officially only been released in Malaysia. The mobile version thus has a region lock. However, downloading on PC works fine, although the ping is somewhat high due to the server location.
What is special about it? Chimeraland impresses especially with its crazy character editor. There you can play shark, bird, or rhinoceros people. Furthermore, you can change nearly everything about your body using sliders and thus create the ugliest character of all MMORPGs.
Another highlight is the breeding and hatching system. With it, you can cross different species of animals and thus breed creepy creatures as mounts or pets.

How has it been since the release? Chimeraland has been struggling with several issues, including performance and the rather empty game world. Generally, the MMORPG still feels unfinished and of not particularly high quality months after release.
The fun part of the game is the character editor, the breeding system, and the free building in the open world.
Meanwhile, Chimeraland has been released in the West. On Steam, it has so far peaked at 2,264 concurrent players. In the last 24 hours, at least 337 were online concurrently. The MMORPG can also be played via a standalone client and on mobile devices.
Who is it interesting for? If you are looking for a sandbox MMORPG with housing and a crazy character editor, take a look at Chimeraland, as it is Free2Play. However, do not expect a high-quality MMORPG on the level of Black Desert or ArcheAge.
The game is more suitable for a few fun hours with friends, where you can experiment with the systems, but less as a new main MMORPG that is supposed to replace WoW or FFXIV.
