During my travels through Fallout 76, I often encountered teddy bears in bizarre situations. At first, I paid little attention to them, but eventually, a few of these strange creatures stuck in my memory …
Scattered throughout Appalachia, there are various places that can astonish you upon closer inspection. Bethesda apparently paid a lot of attention to teddy bears, which reenact all sorts of situations and made me wonder what the hell they are actually up to.
Ted Y. Bear, Waste Disposal Specialist
One of the first situations I came across occurred relatively early in the game – unfortunately, I don’t remember exactly where. Just that it was in one of the mobile toilets scattered everywhere.
In the toilets, you often find useful items like Stimpaks or Chems that can buff you. Chems are especially common next to dead junkies, who presumably have no use for them anymore.
However, in one of those toilets, I met a teddy bear who was calmly disposing of something in the toilet with a skeleton arm and a plunger. Whether he is disposing of the rest of the body that belongs to the arm or something entirely different, I can’t say for sure, as you can’t see it in the mess.
However, I also prefer not to ask, as the teddies can be quite creepy, as one of our 5 creepy places shows.
Teddy Pinkman and Walter Bear
Another pair of teddies I found during an exploration tour in the northern woods. In Lady Janet’s Soft Serve, a reportedly trendy shop after the apocalypse, bears have taken refuge after its neglect.
Two of the furry fellows are sitting in the kitchen of the former soft serve empire. However, instead of food, they appear to be cooking something else. They are seated in front of a chemistry station with flasks, hoses, stands, and test tube holders.
They are also wearing protective masks, similar to those worn by the protagonists of the popular series “Breaking Bad” in many promo shots. However, I couldn’t find any Crystal Jet anywhere.
Outside of Janet’s Soft Serve, there is another strange bear. This one is simply sitting in front of a grill, holding a spatula in its hand, and watching the fish lying on the grill.
Space Program Teddy and Bear
In the middle of Ash Heap, there are huge machines for extracting various raw materials. Some of these machines stand apart from the actual mines, sitting still and rusting.
To one of these machines, there is a path leading up. On the roof of the device lies a skeleton with a rocket launcher and some ammunition. However, there is somewhat hidden another way up, along the arm of the device.
At the top, you will find a trio of plush toys: two polar bears and a Jangles, the Moon Monkey. The two bears with glasses and pencils are watching Jangles and holding a clipboard in front of him while he waits there with a toy rocket up his rear end.
Attached to the rocket under Jangles is a string that ends at one of the bears, who is also holding a lighter. I probably interrupted the launch, but I’m curious about what the three are trying to achieve with their experiment.
Rocker Teddy with Scale Band
I found the last teddy in a somewhat secluded transformer station north of Watoga. After a fight with a glowing deathclaw, I looked around there a bit.
In the transformer station, there is a small equipment shed. You often find useful items or helpful information like holotapes or notes in this shed.
However, in this shed, there was only a teddy bear with a colander on its head and two drumsticks in its paws. The rocker uses a pot as a drum, which sits right in front of him.
The teddies are surely among the strangest things I found outside our 5 bizarre places in Fallout 76. I’m still not quite sure what all the teddy bears in Fallout 76 are planning. For some, I would rather not be on the launch list.
